UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

They used to give you a free fishbowl or something like that on the Wednesdays during your birthday month. Beer and Pizza used to be good. On a Friday or Saturday night, though, you are right. Not a place I would wanna be.

Free fishbowl on your birthday used to be at The Press.

Beer and pizza was great. The trick was to show up at 6:30 or so and pay for a pitcher or two, that way they'd fill up your pitcher(s) instead of the undersized cups they gave out after the pitchers ran out. There was no reason to go there other than on beer and pizza nights (believe it was Tuesday and Thursday).

When did there stop being a decent place to get pizza after 10pm in the Cloud? WTH?

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Uh...who defined local in that sense? I'm talking about Minnesota (local) talent.
I guess I did. But if you want to go with that definition, I suppose we could just as easily claim Benik, Prochno, Jensen, Thorson, Oliver, Rehkamp, Johnson, Phillippi, and maybe even Faragher as "local talent." Either way, I guess.

This will be the first challenging road series of the year for the Gophers. I think they respond well. Gopher’s sweep of the Huskies will be easier than SCSU college acceptance standards.

If this is the most challenging road series for the Gophers(and I agree it is) then this series makes me nervous considering this Gopher team split at Tech.

What are you basing it on that the Gophers want it more?
SCSU has a chance to win the first conference title in school history, but according to you the Gophers want it more?

Not basing it off of anything. Just a feeling that they really want it. I think the Gophers expect great things from themselves such as winning the regular season and to have that in grasp and to know that the road runs through St. Cloud I just believe their desire is greater, as I previously said, IN MY OPINION. Do the Huskies want to win it? No doubt. They've never won it before and I highly doubt many thought that they'd be in the position that they're in, now that they've tasted that success they want to keep on rolling.

The way I see it is that the team that knows they have to make up ground and knows how they must do it will want it more than a team that knows they have to hold their ground for the next few weeks and not slip.

It is a challenging road series, but it will be an easy sweep? I don't think you would get into SCSU.

Wes, you still heading to the big pond between games? Could be a good bite before the front moves in. Good Luck.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

I don't know. I was at the Friday SCSU-UND game this year in the Dog Pound and had to listen to a SCSU female student, who usually cheers for the Huskies, SCREAM for UND. I think she was being purposely loud just to get attention/under people's skin. I came in being ambivalent about who would win, but after 5 minutes of listening to her scream in my ear about Kristo, I was rooting for the Huskies.

If you're going to go to a student section and cheer reasonably then fine, but don't be someone who is purposefully obnoxious.
I'm like 90% sure I know who you're talking about. I went to high school with her. Everyone hated her.

Nailed it.

And Dude Love, you are right about the Press fishbowls, but I know Rum Runners gives you something for your birthday. It might be pizza.

Hockey-wise, I am elated that GopherFan89 picked against us. Anyone who expects a Gopher sweep on the road is just nuts. They have one sweep this season, it was against UAA at home and they needed help from the officials to do it. They are now on the road against the first place team in the conference, in probably the loudest arena in the WCHA, in the biggest series in school history.

SCSU wins tonight, ties tomorrow and the Gophers can ship the MacNaughton Cup to 1204 4th Ave S St Cloud, MN 56301
