UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

I'm sure I've explained this to you before, but I'll go ahead and do it again anyway because you seem to need validation.

I was born and raised in Saint Cloud. Left for college. Came back to work here this year. While I'm far from a fan and maintain a general dislike for the team, I still follow them and enjoy going to the games since it's a close place to watch college hockey. So I follow their threads as well.

Last week I was summoned by you and your ilk. I was planning on avoiding any hockey talk last week as I was heading out on vacation. But who am I to deny my presence when requested. On a side note regarding my predictions, I've been 1 point off the past two weeks. Didn't you predict a split last week?

The previous threads I came in to throw down my prediction and simply responded to your fans' posts. YOU certainly have NEVER ventured into another team's threads, right?

So your move, shall we continue to discuss the two schools and their hockey teams or would you like to know more about me?

Good Parise, nobody here wanted your life story the first three times, why would we want it the 4th time?

I know why you say you are here, but the fact remains you walk into our threads every week and try to stir up the pot. Every. Single. Week. No, I did not ask for you to make an appearance, and don't call anyone else on this board "of my ilk" if they wanted you to show up, bc that's not a fair comparison, I don't want to hear from you.

Now I can't recall who it was that said you should show up, but if memory serves me correctly, I think they were being facetious. Again, could be wrong.

And no I didn't predict a split last weekend, I didn't give a prediction. I said they need to focus on every game in front of them, not worry about "4 points" the first game. I said they need to win Friday and put themselves in a position to win the series, which they've done the last 3 weekends.

And yes, I have gone into other team's threads. But 80% of my posts are not in Gopher threads. Nor are 80% of my posts in Badger threads. Nor are 80% of my posts in UND threads. We're finally playing your team, so you have every right to stay. I can only imagine that most SCSU fans agree with me when I say that when Sunday rolls around and we're all parting ways, FOLLOW THE GUYS WEARING MAROON AND GOLD

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

You forgot about Jonny Brodzinski. Kid works hard and man is it paying off.

Didn't really forget him....trying to keep him as a secret weapon. I am sure every team is well aware of him and his abilities.

If I am Motzko, when we have offensive zone face offs, I have Morley take the draw with Brodzinski on his right flank. The guy can shoot. Great release.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Who's going to be at the game? We'll be there both nights for some great hockey!
We have to welcome Schmidt home and issue some subtle shoot wide hypnosis.
Anyone checking out the Cathedral / Princeton game at the MAC tonight?

I actually don't agree with him on that point. I think the teams that have had the best success against the Gophers HAVE played a defensive game, in particular blocking lots of shots and clogging passing lanes. Also, backchecking like demons to make sure they don't face many odd-man rushes. I think if the teams go up and down it stretches both teams and the Goph's passing game gets going resulting in weak side goals.

But Bob has forgotten more about hockey than I've ever known, so I guess he should know. Will be fun to find out.
I don't know that what you've written is at odds with what Bob is planning. Basically, he was saying that Bemidji was a bit different than other series this season in that they like to gamble with long breakout passes. For that reason, he kept two guys behind the play at all times, which is not what he typically does. Obviously, that "scheme" won't work against the Gophers because it wouldn't create enough pressure on the backcheck to create turnovers. He's basically going back to what has worked against Denver and UND... not that different from what you described.

I'll probably be at the MAC tonight to watch that game actually. I'll also be at both games this weekend sitting as far away from the Dawg Pound as I can.

I especially like this one when he says at 29 sec "eat this and die"...

At 5'10" he is a skyscraper compared to Murray, Morley and Milan. Hopefully he grows another couple inches.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

We are going to have a Conference Champions banner at the beginning of next season. So at least one new banner.

I think you guys should have stayed in the WCHA next year. That is probably the only way you'd get your hands on the McN Cup. Yes, you are leading now, but there is still plenty of time for your squad to blow it and squeak into the NCAA for your traditional first round loss. :D

He plays with Poganski on Great Plains and the St. Cloud kid goes to UND and the Grand Forks kid goes to SCSU.
Interesting.

No, we are going to a conference with some competition. We will leave playing the cupcakes to the Gophers. Looks like they got a head start on it this year.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

This is hockey. When two teams close to each other in ability meet, any combo of points is possible.

Denny Green just called to say knock that s**t off and leave it to him.

OK, Enough of this. Yeah, we are going to a conference with some competition....? This year is the first time in a long time that we have faired well against MSU-Mankato. We split with UAA this year(**** lucky to do so, as we deserved to get swept that series) and you are going to come on here and pound your chest? The new conference was the best option for SCSU strategically long term. For you to come on here and assert that we are too good to play with MSU-Mankato, Nothern Michigan(Kicked our asses recently) Ferris State(Final 4 team last year), and the other WCHA schools is laughable and disgusting
