I think if they took out the short stories it would be a kick arse special. Some of the technological things they've been talking about are fascinating.
Edit: And the weapons guy from Pawn Stars makes an appearance! Jeesh.

As long as it's military history, the History Channel is OK with it. (It may have been all pulled out of their butts, but their Battles of the Bible series was lots of fun.)
Considering their usual fare is UFO Coverups, this is definitely a step up.

I pre-ordered Season 3 of Breaking Bad (Blu-Ray) today on Amazon. $25 for the season the day it comes out, on Blu-Ray, seemed like a really **** good deal. Plus, Breaking Bad is one of those series that I'll want to own the whole thing.

I pre-ordered that, too, despite having all the torrents. I'll give them my money to keep the series going (and to encourage them to come up with more series that are that well-written/etc).
I actually was on the fence, figuring I could wait a while and get it for even cheaper a couple years down the road (due to having the torrents right now), but a "Memento" 2-disc edition kept running out of stock, so I wanted to pull the trigger on the buy when I found it in stock again and just added BB and a couple other things in my cart.

I know about the same night reruns, but I am out of it. Completely. And by now I missed it anyway. There's also the Sunday night rerun (at least in the past there was).

There are commentators that are certainly well suited to provide insight and analysis in the program, however, some of the individuals they have from the various institutes are not. Some of the individuals represent institutes that are essentially tourist traps/memorabilia shops (in my opinion). Basically, a few pieces from the Civil War and maps pasted up on the walls. Their gift shops are larger than the actual "museums". I know the some of the stories are in their basic components, true, but the detail in which they go into is from creative liberties. I've read quite a bit about several of them in various books, Gettysburg, The Hornet's Nest, The Killer Angels, in which they state the story and subsequent sources (journals, diaries, photos, etc.) that can provide further information, but do not form an entire storyline due to the fact that without a direct connection and confirmation from another source, a lot of the information is hearsay. After both the Revolutionary and Civil War, there were a lot of false stories of heroism or involvement that could not be confirmed or where made up entirely, passing some of these off as fact is detrimental to credibility in my opinion.

New season of Ice Road Truckers begins tonight. It's back to the snow, and am wondering if the series will hold up or not. It was starting to get a little old before they went to India (which was awesome).

I came home this evening and my wife said that I just had to watch this girl named Dia Frampton sing on the show The Voice. I hadn't watched much of the show at all because I found it pretty boring, but her rendtion of a song called Heartless (which I don't think I had heard before) was so ridiculously good I rewound it 3 times. I don't know if this girl will ever be a star, but the performance was so good I had to post.

And IRT has lost it. I MIGHT check out next week's episode, but I think unless they really do a change of scenery (think: put them somewhere in China/Japan or LA or Boston or some other *ed up traffic-congested area), this will be the last I watch of the series. It's a shame, really.

There's only so much they can do when the basis of the show is driving a truck on ice, its going to end up being the same thing every season. It had a good run, but I think this should be the last season.
