Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I never watched the show, but I had friends who did and they all told me the movie had zero to do with what was going on on the show at the time. I like the movie quite a bit FWIW.

Your friends are nuts.

And if anyone has HDNet, they're showing a concert with Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer "Unwigged and Unplugged." They're doing the songs from This Is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, and others. Very entertaining. Lots of chatter in between songs, too, which is great.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I am nearly through Season 1 of the X-Files. I really watched the show hardcore the first few years but lost track towards the latter part of the series. Assuming I stick with it, does watching the 1st movie have any ties to keeping up with the government conspiracy running throughout and if so, does it matter relative to which seasons I watch it?
Watch the film between the fifth and sixth seasons.

Wikipedia said:
In summer 1998 the series produced a feature-length motion picture, The X-Files, also known as The X Files: Fight the Future. The crew intended the movie to be a continuation of the season five finale "The End", but was also meant to stand on its own. The season six premier, "The Beginning", picked up where the film left off. The majority of the film was shot in the break between the show's fourth and fifth seasons.

Watch the film between the fifth and sixth seasons.

Thank you. Your longer parargraph rings bells and I did see the movie in the theater, but I think watching the seasons in succession this time around and timing the movie right would be the right move.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Sweet. HDNet will also have 24 episodes of Zane Lamprey's "Drinking Made Easy" this fall. :D

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Avalanche on IRT!

"Yeah, the signs are gone, probably because of a previous avalanche. There's a cross, there's a pretty good sign right there. That means someone died here."

Bolded, underlined: uhhhhhh YEAH? YA THINK?!

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

200K lb load. And it's with Lisa, a second year driver.

Hells. Yes.

Can't wait for next week.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

On an unrelated note, I have lost a lot of respect for Zahi Hawass after seeing a few episodes of Chasing Mummies. He's a continental d*ck of the most epic nature. I've never seen a bigger a-hole, ever.

No kidding, just watched another one I DVR'd last night. The girl losing bladder control in the pyramid was hilarious.

And while he is a total d*ck...don't you think the archaeological fellows are a little soft? Priceless when Derek suggested to Hawass that the pyramid was built by aliens...

So far, this series is almost rating up there with Whale Wars for unintentional comedy for me.

Yeah, I completely agree. While I'd be ****ed about the girl ****ing herself, I don't blame her with all the **** that was going on around her.

But it's the other stuff, the little things where he just goes off for no reason. This whole thing almost seems fake. Seriously.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Hung: still awesome. Loved the awkwardness of the scene where the girl asked Ray to sing "Happy Birthday" all different ways while he was giving it to her.

YES. And met Thomas Jane on the floor and I feel like he plays himself on Hung, he is kinda skeevy. ;)

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

So I've been packing and whatnot for a trip up north for the week. I've been watching Gene Simmons Family Jewels when I've been able to sit down. This show is ***** awesome.

Edit: whiskey tango foxtrot. I can't say "f apostrophe ing"? Is this site run by Bob Jones? FMS.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Love it.

Partially because of bad luck and partially because of his own stupidity, Ray Villeux on IRT gets stuck, melts down and nails one of the cameras in the truck.

He may have said 3-4 non-cuss words in 30 seconds, all directed at the camera guy in the cab. :D

Edit: and how does one haul a 210K lb oversize load? By using two weighted-down trailers to form a chain and push the lead truck up the hills. The middle truck, once wedged in-between the other two, doesn't even steer. It just goes. WTEff.

So I'm about 3/4 through Season 6 of 24. It's a great show, but it's getting repetitive.

Granted, since I've been watching it for three months straight, an episode a day or more, it's understandable.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Or if somehow the back two lost control on a steep hill where her truck wouldn't make it? That would be disastrous.

The middle one really can't, once it's "locked in" (assuming the driver in the middle doesn't grab the wheel, or miss a gear, like Lisa did).

I love the more veteran drivers who are ripping her abilities, when they've had their (documented) screwups, too. Especially Hugh and all the tickets he's had. :D

I was sort of referring to the case where the back truck loses power or traction, the middle truck also fails once the back truck goes, and finally lisa's truck. Think cascade.

Oh jeeze... As if this wasn't a bad idea already, hey, let's do it at night.

They gotta cross the state, more or less. Deadlines, man. And Lisa is the middle truck. The brotha is the lead truck. Jack is the back truck.
