TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

Finished the latest installment of Ozark. I guess I'll start by saying that it was an improvement over the last season and a half, or so, but that is a relatively low bar. It was watchable, although the writers still can't resist the occasional silly plot turn or moment.

I love the character of Ruth, and without it the series would be completely worthless. I also like Bateman. But honestly, I feel like the story has run its course (and maybe beyond) with these first seven episodes of this season, and they should call it a day.

Oh, so they released the whole season and not one a week?

Oh, I know they’ve split the season into two chunks but I thought they were only showing one episode per week. Instead of dropping all seven at the same time. Isn’t that how they’ve done this in previous seasons?

Nah Netflix always does dumps. Hulu usually does one a week.

Station Eleven is even better than the very good novel. I don’t remember so many well-thought-out plot lines happening in the book. Recommend.

That's by the guy who did Downton Abbey, so no surprise on the upstairs/downstairs stuff. I've been intrigued by what I've read thus far. Is that all a recommendation or not?
The Gilded Age is just terrible. I actually enjoyed Downton Abbey, so I was very disappointed at how flat these characters are. It’s a Dollar Store version of DA, Fellowes is just showing off his taste in taste. Cool costumes though… but 1 ep was more than enough.

Watched the 2-hour documentary Attica about the 1971 'uprising'. I was aware of it but had never read/watched something so in depth. It's no surprise no one went to prison for murdering 29 prisoners and 10 hostages, and I hope we're not headed down this path again in the future.

My youngest turns 19 in a few days and the elder will be 20 (holy shit!) in September. Having therefore gone through the teen years with both mostly unscathed I think teenage angst in TVs/movies is completely overdone, but in the context of the series Ozark this quote from S4E1 was pristine:

"How do you explain this to a teenager who's only job is to hate you in the first place?"

I love/hate this show with a hard lean to hate but for some stupid reason I insist on finishing it out despite the fact I've previously had zero problem giving up on other series on the regular.

I am the same way (though havent started this season yet) but for me I think it is cause if all of this stupidity is the buildup the ending is going to off the changes bizarre. It might be a full on trainwreck but I need to rubberneck it.

This show can rectify a lot if they nail the ending even if that means full on carnal wreckage.

Finally saw a trailer for the new Fresh Prince series. Someone on here mentioned it's not the same (SOH or Handy?) and holy moly I finally got around to it. I'm actually mildly interested now.

All of Us Are Dead S1.1. Holy fuck, that's weird. I'm sticking with it because Korean tropes are different enough from ours to be deeply unsettling. mookie will be in his bunk.

Not exaggerating: I'm having trouble telling the characters apart.
