Just watched the American Experience episode about L. Frank Baum. Not surprisingly it was wonderfully done. I had no previous knowledge of his backstory (such as his connection to castorine oil) nor the impetuses for creating the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He tried to make his way as the seller of fancy roosters, as an actor/theater producer, as a salesman, he started a professional baseball franchise as well as a newspaper in Aberdeen, and he was involved heavily in the suffrage movement just for starters. He was an infinitely interesting character.

Jesse Owens tonight. Their Classic Albums is pretty good. They had Fleetwood Mac's Rumors on last Fri.

Started watching the series High Fidelity which I knew nothing about including the protagonist. After 15 secs max I thought, "This woman had to be Lisa Bonet's daughter" and sure as shit...

I saw about 5 episodes. They were very uneven; the first one was amazing.

RE: Tales from the Loop. Its beautifully shot and has some interesting stories. But yeah, after the 1st episode or 2, I no longer expected much in the way of bizarre. Episodes 3-5 are ok but weaker. 6 and 7 have moments and are a step back up and it ends fairly well with episode 8 that parallels episode 1 nicely and wraps several story lines up in an interesting way.

So DAVE has not disappointed nearing the end of S2. I am please that it kept up.

History of the Sitcom on CNN is obviously filler but it's been a fun run down memory lane.

Dick Cheney has chosen himself as George W Bush's running mate: https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/mik...ek-1235034673/

That is a "sh-t eating grin":

It looks like Phil Hartman playing a dou-chebag.

So with one movie under their belt they sign on for 14 more? Or by movie do they mean "multi-episode arc"?

Honestly I think it's a joke. Or more exactly it's golden handcuffs. "Up to the next 14 movies you make are ours." They may never even make one.

That’s a good question. Would something like the pandemic special count as a movie? I know their usual TV schedule is stressful, but the trade off of nine months of no work is part of the deal. Now it sounds like they’ll be doing nothing but work year round.

They are also worth something like 1.2B collectively. When they signed an early contract, they got something like 50% of non TV money. In the late 90s...that was not much, but now with streaming, video games, etc, they have made a killing.

I think that was still a lot, even in the 90s. Their merchandise sales were insane.
