I do not understand why people like Zooey Deschanel.

Here. Let me help you.

She has a 15-year old's face, a 22-year old's breasts, and a 90-year old's bank account. What's not to like?

It should be noted I wont watch any show that requires thinking with her because she has the attention span of a gnat and I am not going to spend an hour explaining what is going on cause she will tune out 5 minutes in.

I think I have isolated the problem. Your GF is a moron. Either because she actually has the cognitive limitations you speak of or because she stays with a guy who talks about her this way.

Either way one of you should probably dump the other.

Something something people in glass houses something something...

It's never terrible to have an opinion. There are just times that it pays to be temperate in the verbal expression of said opinion.

That skill is a perishable one, and it's been my observation for some time that social media has caused it to deteriorate in many people.

There are topics I won't pursue with Dr. Mrs. We each have a few things that cut too close to the quick autobiographically. There are ideas that live in us with such strong emotional churnings that they become extra fingers, and you can't just cut them open and examine them like other ideas without causing genuine suffering.

That's one reason I won't argue religion with a believer in meat world. It's okay here because this medium projects everything into 2D mental space, but in the real world dissecting a believer's religious concepts is like literally dissecting them. Particular with ideas which form early in childhood as a link to family and authority, and as a protective layer against the cruelties of reality, religion is beyond rational discussion for many believers.

And of course there are many "religions": libertarianism is another one where you can actually see a person physically writhing in pain if you challenge their myths. These are things so internalized they have become like physical organs. You can't rip them out without killing the patient.

Piers Morgan quit Good Morning Britain after receiving roughly 90 seconds of criticism from a cohost and walking off set over his remarks of Markle and the Royal Family.

That was after he started the show harassing another cohost for wearing a dress, so a real banger of a day for Piers.

I’m sure he’ll find somewhere to land and fail upwards once again.

I'd say Fox but let's be serious, it will be CNN.

These guys are like coaches who cover up rapes -- there's always another thirsty school willing to foot the bill, and the audience has enough derps they won't suffer too badly.

Speaking of, has Lou Dobbs gotten a new gig yet? That brand of racist xenophobia will always find a ready market.

Oh believe me, even she understands I am not going to watch Breaking Bad with her. I will watch, she will watch usually months later and then we can discuss it after. (we do this a lot) The problem is, and she will attest to this, her brain cannot focus on any one thing she needs multiple things going on at all times even to fall asleep. This means she is on her phone THE. ENTIRE. TIME. That is fine if we are watching a half hour sitcom or a movie with very little plot but if the show has any depth the amount of times she has to get caught up makes it untenable. She once suggested we watch GOT and the idea gave me a migraine ;^) It is much better for both of us to watch something she can half pay attention to and she can do her painting app on her phone.

She is not a moron, I would venture she is smarter than both of us. (definitely you ;^) ) She just needs a way to calm her brain down. Smart phones are a black hole for her mind...she is getting slightly better but every so often I have to quiz her to make sure she is keeping one eye on the TV.

And as jim said...glass houses punk!

As for Zooey, I guess I never found her hot. Even if I did the second she talked I was out. She has one note and it is not for me.

note: the tone of my previous post, which sounded harsh upon re-read which is why I assume you reacted the way you did, was not meant to sound that way. In fact it is so not a real issue she often makes the joke for me as does her mother. (who actually can be rather harsh) The GF knows her issues which is why she often suggests sitcoms or cheesy dramas. :^)

Well, she has a sister that's a Boston University alum! I don't mind that fact, but figured you might. :)

I never watched The New Girl. Did not interest me. Nor have I ever watched Scrubs. In the interest of full disclosure, I watch a lot of mindless network stuff. Mostly procedural dramas. I enjoy it. But it helps me do other things - ironing, paying my bills, cleaning, etc. And thank God for the DVR. There's only one or two network shows I like to watch live: This Is Us and Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Kep - you might like that one. The title character is played by a redhead - Jane Levy. It's a sweet and entertaining show and during the first season last year, I cried almost every episode with how they were treating the deterioration and death of Zoey's dad. It was actually a bit cathartic as I was still just a year out from losing my dad. I like shows that can do teary storylines well.

I never watch her with the sound on. That would not add anything.

I also happen to think Meghan markle is not telling the truth most of the time, and the royals should all fade into oblivion, but by god, getting rid of piers is like thr best possible outcome here. Sod off you wanker

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist is surprisingly involved when compared to how the show was advertised. The actress who plays Zoey might be the worst singer on the show, but she's probably the character who does the least amount of singing. My wife and I really enjoyed the first season, but the second season has hit something of a slump, IMO.

There are enough rusty, dull guillotine blades for them all.

The season 2 premiere was outstanding but the subsequent episodes have not hit that level yet. And agreed about Jane Levy's singing. But you're right, she's the one that hears people singing, not one of the ones that sings regularly.

Hip Hop Evolution. Netflix history. I've seen 2 episodes so far: Foundations and The Dirty South. Both excellent. The footage and access are great, everybody still alive does interviews and they aren't cliche or superficial. Educational and fun if you have any love for the genre.
