TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

I missed the F1 sprint because my smart TV isn't smart enough to know when schedules change due to weather. Does that tech exist yet -- realtime program time change sent by the network to the cable system and your VCR adjusts? For now I just add 120 minutes to every F1 broadcast and hope.

It’s just national TV ratings comparisons.

Right but how many NBA games are nationally televised and how many NASCAR races are? NASCAR will be more of an event on TV because there are less of them which will make people watch more. Scarcity leads to bigger ratings.

Finished Bear S2.

Overall: Wonderful. Just as good as S1. I am very satisfied.

Final Episode Spoilers: That finale sucked flacid monkey dong.

S2 was uneven, but they had had a great string going there, including the cringey obvious Emmy bait episode (Fishes) which was still great despite the pretense because my god JLC rules, and also my favorite bubble episode from any show of all time (Forks) except the sex toy convention one from The Leftovers.

Locking him in the walk in for his team to prove they could do it without him was trite but forgiveable, but locking him in the walk-in so he could have that Flintstones-level Tina-for-Clair Bear switchout was not forgivable -- that was RomCom-level hamfist and Christopher Storer, as a true artist, you ought to be ashamed.

Note: both these things would be meh okay whatevs for a normal network show, BUT I DO NOT GO TO THE BEAR FOR A NORMAL MEAL THIS IS FINE DINING YOU F-CK AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I LEARNED THAT FROM YOU!

Overall Spoilers:

So let's forget the finale existed. And let's forget the obvious bridge to S3 via the missed text message cliche. The important thing is S2 could have ruined the show but actually enhanced it. They did have places to go after S1, I was wrrr---, and I am glad I was wrrr---, and glad there was an S2. Thank you to the cast and especially the writers.

Do I want an S3? No. Do I think it will debase the show? Probably. But I have learned my lesson and so I won't die on that hill this time.

I trust you, Storer. Don't let me down, f-cker.

The tech does exist and from what I understand it’s up to the network to provide the info, but I’m sure the cable provider also plays a part in how often they want it refreshed. YouTubeTV is very good at it, whereas when I used to have Comcast they just had an “add thirty minutes to sports” option. Granted that was about 8 years ago now, so either the tech didn’t exist or was in its infancy, or some providers just choose not to refresh their info as much.

If you're under a certain age you missed out. He-Man and The Smurfs just doesn't get it done.

The disappearance of Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, and Jay Ward cartoons is coeval with the triumph of Creeping Meatballism in America. For a brief and shining instant, genuinely subtle, subversive wit was part of every child's afternoon TV schedule.

Those aired as reruns all the time during the 80s. I saw more drag Bugs than I ever realized until someone pointed it out to me.

The Bugs Bunny Show actually ran until 2000. It's basically how the characters were able to stay relevant through the 70s & 80s. WB did very little "new" content with them until the 90s.

The shows from the 30s and 40s are by far the best, though. Even the content from the 50s and 60s was weak, and then everything from the 70s on should go mentioned.
