TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

The beard episode is near the top of my favorite episodes of television. It probably shouldn't be. But I loved every single minute of it.

I mean, I didn't hate it, but it also didn't really fit in with the rest of the series, and really served no purpose. Actually, IIRC, that episode and the S2 X-Mas episode were both written when S2 was expanded from 8 episodes to 10 episodes late in the game, so they needed 2 more episodes they could interleave in without them affecting the overall flow in the plotline. I liked the S2 X-Mas though, stories like the Higginses having all of the out of town players over for X-Mas was a nice story that continued on the show's pattern of showing the humanity of the characters, even if Dime-Store Revolutionaries think saying otherwise makes them appear edgy.

It was a scoping episode to deepen the character, like the one where Nate learns to spit. By the time the show reaches its full run every character will have had one. It's a mandatory tv tactic, like when the principle actors start demanding they direct episodes, and it's a lot less irritating, so no harm no foul.

You really have to stop projecting about tailoring your opinions for audience effect. I know STEMlords and adolescent boys do this (same thing), but human adults do not, we just do what we do.

I just like beard, roy, and obviously ted. I didn't hate the christmas episode. I figured it was a tack-on christmas special more or less, which is what it sounds like it was. It was fine. Sometimes mainlining dopamine into the pleasure center of the brain is fun. Other times I like to exercise the rest of my brain. This show has fun poking around all over the brain structures.

Just to tell you how annoying Ted Lasso discussions are...I would rather hear about Cornell Hockey :^o

It's kind of fun not being a sheeple! Maybe one day I will give you all my opinion on GOT...which I'm watching for the first time now. (Halfway through season 7) DGF will be keenly interested I'm sure ;^)

Now I need you to excuse me...my flight is leaving and i have free drinks to consume! Feel free to foam at the mouth!

Your what hurts? ;^P

Adult swim cuts ties with Justin Roiland. Says they will continue with Rick and Morty however as Harmon is still on and season 7 writing and what not has begun. Will find new person/people for voices.

Would imagine Hulu will follow the same route with Solar Opposites

Oof, I'll hope for the best, but you kinda have to think it won't be the same without him (not a criticism of Adult Swim's decision, mind you).

TLOU 1.02 Spoiler questions:

1. I have been bothered from the beginning about the biting. The ant zombies actually mostly just go about their ant business like before, with the fungus along for the ride using them as transport and food. The survivalism of the fungus is an adaptive function of probability, not a will. Even if biting is statistically helpful for fungal spread, which I doubt since zombies then become targets for extermination, it would take thousands of generations for he fungus to evolutionarily adapt to going for that particular set of nerve impulses.

2. Bombing the cities wouldn't help, it would hurt. You are fighting a disease. It doesn't have command and control you do. You don't want to ruin the infrastructure of cities that helps you move around and fight the disease, while it doesn't help the infected nearly as much. You certainly don't want to degrade communications, which you use and it doesn't.

Possible answers:.

1) How long is a generation of fungi? A few days? A few weeks? A few months? The climate has been warming for ~150 years, so that's a few hundred to a few thousand generations right there.

2) No one knows how to tell infected from uninfected until they've already bitten you. How are you going to stop an infection like that? It's not like a virus we just went through and everyone is going to social distance. The infected are going to try to spread the infection.Even 20 years on they have warning signs in the QZ that so much as coughing could lead to you being shot.

Besides, we just saw how well people responded to being told to social distance and take a vaccine to save their lives. The bombs might be a better choice.

I'm kidding. Sort of.

But I'm still feeling like shite so this could all be part of a fever dream. Except that last part...

You’ve already seen the best of GoT. To be honest, most of the enjoyment for me was watching it with my long time friends- we’d all read the books and was excuse for us to get a pizza and spend a few hours together on Sunday nights. I really miss that.

Roiland and Harmon are only listed as writers on 6 episodes each. And Roiland only directed one. I'm sure he (Roiland) was involved in most episodes beyond the voices though. I am hopeful that with Harmon still on (for now at least...) that the writing can still be quality.

When adult swim/squidbillies cut ties with Unknown Hinson (Stuart Daniel Baker) who voiced Early Cuyler, they replaced him with Tracy Morgan for the final season. It was such a jarring change it made the last season really weird. Hopefully they find someone who can do the Rick and Morty voices spot on.

Regarding TLoU Questions:

There seem to be hints that the initial spread of the Fungi was due to infected grain spreading around the globe. Patient Zero appeared at a grain processing facility in Jakarta. Joel's elderly neighbor ate biscuits on the day she turned. Joel SPECIFICALLY turned down getting a cake on his birthday and mentioned not liking pancakes.

That seems to be the leading fan theory at the moment: Grains/flour.

I haven't played the game, but did they ever give any background on what caused the outbreak, or did they just throw you into the game?

I've downloaded the game on PS4 and will play it after season one ends.
