The Miss Universe skit on SNL was excellent. Especially if you have a wife that made you watch with her last week and you're familiar with the oh so frequent instances of peculiar shouting by contestants.

I could not understand a word they were screaming except ALBANIA! and DEAD!

I was very impressed by Aubrey Plaza -- most of the skits were only funny because of her. I loathe her characters (except for in Legion) but I love the way she creates them.

I agree. That was one of the funnier episodes of the season.

Best Weekend Update in a long time, too. And I LOVED the musical guest.

Did I miss it or did Colin and Michael not give each other their Christmas presents this year? That is always my favorite episode.

I don't think they did that this year, unfortunately.

TLOU 1.02 Spoiler questions:

1. I have been bothered from the beginning about the biting. The ant zombies actually mostly just go about their ant business like before, with the fungus along for the ride using them as transport and food. The survivalism of the fungus is an adaptive function of probability, not a will. Even if biting is statistically helpful for fungal spread, which I doubt since zombies then become targets for extermination, it would take thousands of generations for he fungus to evolutionarily adapt to going for that particular set of nerve impulses.

2. Bombing the cities wouldn't help, it would hurt. You are fighting a disease. It doesn't have command and control you do. You don't want to ruin the infrastructure of cities that helps you move around and fight the disease, while it doesn't help the infected nearly as much. You certainly don't want to degrade communications, which you use and it doesn't.

The beard episode is near the top of my favorite episodes of television. It probably shouldn't be. But I loved every single minute of it.

Trent Crimm: The Independent is my favorite. Midnight Train to Royston (the Ghana billionaire) and The Diamond Dogs (the darts game with Giles) are up there. Man City (the fight with Jamie's dad) is outstanding and The Hope That Kills You (where they are relegated) are also brilliant.

Carol of the Bells is the only episode I have ever hated, both because it's a betrayal of the show's premise of being actual humanity, not tv, and of course because it is so pathetically cringe. It's so bad I wonder if somebody else actually wrote it.

Biscuits was when I realized the show was special.
