TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

Headline News is airing The West Wing as a marathon all this week, except for brief CNN This Morning coverage each morning.

Aaron Sorkin is such a great writer and producer. They're just airing the end of season two, and this morning started with some emotional damage with the episode "18th and Potomac."

I enjoyed the series when it first aired, and I'm appreciating the re-watch. What a powerful program, and it's eerie just how relevant it is still today.

Watching the West Wing marathon on HLN and I'm angry. I'm angry because topics that were hashed out 20 years ago are still relevant. I'm angry that Sorkin laid a road map out for Democrats, practically held their hands, and the world today is white were at.

20 Hours in America (ep 1, 2) and College Kids (ep 3) are excessively aggravating because the show absolutely lampoon democrats for being elitists, but they buckle down and help the homesteads/middle class.

I'm angry that this isn't required viewing for everyone involved in the DNC.

Every year, I forget.

Then, every New Year's Eve, I remember.

The Twilight Zone was the greatest TV show in history.

SyFY has the 2019 version right now. It didn't get good reviews, though the few episodes I've seen I've liked, but it's definitely lacking compared to the original. Serling was the right man at the right time, not just writing wise but also being the perfect narrator. That voice was crafted by decades of smoking and no one has been able to pull off a perfect impersonation of the speaking style.

Black Mirror is the much better spiritual successor, anyway.

Just like National Treasure was really Indiana Jones 4 and they never made anything after that.

Agreed on that. Just looked it up and there's a Season 6 in production right now for Black Mirror. The last season wasn't my favorite, but as long as there aren't more stories like the Miley Cyrus episode I'll be happy.

Finished White Lotus last night. Laughed my fucking ass off at the ending. It was perfect ending for Tanya. But man did the ending for the two couples make me uneasy and nauseated. Upsetting. But still kind of funny. The ending for the three guys was also excellent. My wife and I laughed pretty hard.

I dont even think I watched Season 2 of Jack Ryan...Season 1 was enjoyable but never made me wish for more.

OMG I came to this thread this morning to say I spent pretty much all of last week watching The West Wing marathon. And I totally agree with your comments.
