Best season so far. I'm excited to see the new show.

then again, I've enjoyed season 1 and what we've seen from s2 (about a third of the way in) of Picard.

So -\_( " )_/-

I finished season 2 of Picard...I liked them both but I'm also not one of the weirdos wearing Spock ears at conventions soooooo...

I think it's hilarious that I, a Tech grad, am not into Star Trek at all. The nerd bible I'm into the most is LOTR and even then I recognize it has flaws and parts I don't like, and I would never embarrass myself to the level of having an LOTR themed wedding (*gag*).

TOS is the only essential Star Trek. TNG was nice fan service. The rest is just cashing in.

But TOS really should be part of Basic Nerd Cultural Literacy 101:

Movies & TV:

Dracula
Frankenstein
2001
Star Wars
Close Encounters
Terminator
Alien
Blade Runner
X Files
The Matrix

Authors:

Verne
Wells
Asimov
Heinlein
Bradbury

Moving on to the 201 course

Movies & TV:

Metropolis
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Time Machine
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Dr. Who
The Thing
Akira
Total Recall
Fifth Element
Rick & Morty

Authors:

Clarke
Niven
Anderson
Zelazny
Gibson

The 301 course starts to get a little more challenging

Movies & TV:

Forbidden Planet
Solaris
La Jetee / 12 Monkeys
Andromeda Strain
THX1138
Silent Running
Dark City
Primer
Interstellar
West World

Authors:

Lem
Sturgeon
Pohl
Dick
Le Guin

I didn't care for alien, 2001, or THX. Especially the latter two.

I've just started S1 of Tehran about a Mossad agent who infiltrates Tehran under a false identity to help destroy a nuclear reactor. I don't know how much she's involved but it says Glenn Close is in the series as is Shaun Toub, who played the scientist in the cave in Iron Man as well as Majid Javadi in Homeland among other roles. E1 has been very intriguing and I will continue for now. S2 has had 4 episodes so far.

Star Trek: Predictable Lazy Cliches is dreck, but
  • Sex kitten Nurse Chapel is a trip
  • Not George Clooney Captain Pike is comforting, and
  • Simone Biles Uhuru is lame but beats the fuck outta Wesley Crusher as a Mary Sue
