Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

Trump doesn't have to take office to earn some applause for the surfacing of ever-more-blatant racism. He bequeathed that to us just by his campaign.

Of course, when we say "Thanks, Trump" it's only a sarcastic barb. It's not Trump's fault that there is an apparently large number of "Heartland" "real /'Muricans" who dream of segregation and putting people "in their place."

while he did funnel it, it was your side that lit the fire and organized them. so 'thanks'.

I know, we elected a black guy president. What the f-ck right did we have?!

Not to mention all those unarmed black people killed by the police. Didn't they realize they were heightening racial tensions?

And the gays too! Marriage? Really?

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

I can't believe I just read this.

there were what, 60million racist who put trump in? we have seen and read comments over the past 3 weeks how they are angry and sending a message. so let's try and figure that out. many of them also we are told voted for obama last time around, and now tD. that makes little sense, but it's been reported.

so..... what caused this?

mookie will offer that it is an offshoot of the "all lives matter" or "white lives matter too" people who sit in their trailers and wonder why there is a big to do over black lives matter. many of these people sit and watch tv at the riots, et al. they sit and think "gee, i don't riot. i try to do the right thing. why isn't anyone helping me?" (think back to the coach actor. what did he say about being on food stamps and nobody helping him :p )

there is no way that the people that elected tD should have been voting R when they are lifetime D voters or fit the D profile to a T. none. mookie always quotes his favorite movie "white people have more in common with colored people than with rich people".
but over the past how many years they see the "everyone else matters" stuff on tv and wonder what they did wrong.

rover was here a month ago claiming that the R party was on life support and hilly was going to sweep the nation and help win the senate and house.

now he is sticking to our team's thread (great  ) and mookie reads how the D is in trouble going forward.

mookie only hopes the national D leaders are figuring out the consequences and actions that brought this about. whining about it isn't going to help turn this around.

always thought it should be one or the other. if one is hooked and falls down, how can you embellish it

The guy getting hooked tries to make a minor hook look like a major high-stick to the head. Yes, the hook happened, but stop acting like a soccer player.

Just saving the cops the trouble.

During his arraignment via video from South Central Regional Jail, Pulliam was shocked to learn he would have to remain in jail.

'I'm going to be in here til December?' he asked the judge. 'I'm going to lose my job and everything.'

Yeah, that's how it works. You can't shoot nigg*rs on the street and expect to go home and then off to work the next morning like nothing happened. At least not yet, anyway. You're just a man ahead of your time.

Nice to see this finally got press. It was the worst-kept secret inside the Beltway.

The gossip in town is he has flat out said he's not interested in them. He's got his ideas, he's going to go by his ideas, it's all these intel pointy-heads who have caused all the problems so he won't look to them for solutions.

This is why we don't elect doctors or center fielders.

Officials involved in Trump's transition told the Washington Post that the President-elect has prioritized filling national security posts and has been otherwise occupied staffing his administration, and warned against ascribing undue importance to Trump's briefing schedule.

And then there's tweeting about how bad SNL is, or whining about the cast of Hamilton. That stuff takes up a lot of time.

if they were being shot down in the streets by the cops just for being white, I kinda think they might have a different opinion on that. Just a thought.

mookie will chalk rufus up as "having no clue what they are thinking" and hope you hold no role in figuring it out. as they obviously have issues and this attitude isn't addressing them.

but thanks for the input ;)

No, I know exactly what they're thinking. Their lives aren't as good as they once were, they can't buy fun toys like they used to, and they have to struggle just to pay the mortgage on their nice home. But they've still got it better than a good part of the population that for some reason, they seem to think receives some special sort of "awesome welfare" that they aren't entitled to get, and thus breeds their resentment. Never mind that their situation is a fairly recent event, while those other parts of the population have been living like that for decades.

If, you know, they'd only bothered to save some of their money when times were good, instead of blowing it all, they'd be much better off then they are now. Even though, they're still much better off than a major percentage of the population. I also know that they've kept voting for the very people and policies that have played a part in their being in the situation they now find themselves, and there seems to be major cognitive dissonance about that fact.

Yes, I have to 'understand' when whiny selfish people lash out and express their whiny selfishness, and then take out their frustrations on anyone who doesn't look like they do.

ah yes... the problem is with them.

not too far a throw from what they are thinking :)

When big changes occur in society there is always a backlash, be those changes good or bad because even good changes for the masses will have a perceived negative impact on some group or another.

It's one of those things that politicians never seem to learn. If they take small steps to increment changes towards their ideal, then people will eventually accept it because we, as a society, have a short memory. When that change happens all at once - a BLACK MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND GAY MARRIAGE  - it will set off the backlash. Meanwhile, if one of those things had happened during when a white man was in office, many of those people would have taken it with some grousing, but the pitchforks and torches would've stayed in their sheds.

The same thing can be said for liberal issues that have been changed to a more conservative stance. WJC rolled back a small portion of welfare - compared to the program as a whole - as a concession to Congressional GOP leaders; we saw the outcry about the issue, but now the only people who give those changes much thought are political wonks while the rest of society just keeps on trucking and adjusted.

I know. I was, more or less, making a comment on how everything going on right now is being blamed on a man who has yet to even take office. I don't like, didn't vote for him, but the Blame Trump crowd really needs to get a grip on things.

Its the exact same thing that happened when Obama got elected except the majority on here loved obama. But in other places he was getting **** on just like trump is getting **** on here.

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

The newest conspiracy theory is that the Jill Stein is a proxy of George Soros to rig the election. Seems like it would've been a lot easier to rig by having Hillary win in the first place.

And for what reason? All you hear about is 'FREEDOMS' and 'REGULATIONS'

60+ months of job growth, stock market at an all-time high, yearly deficits coming down, dug us out of the biggest recession since the Great Depression. Just imagine how much better things might be, how many of those "left behind" might be doing better if the Republicans had actually chosen to work with him instead of opposing everything he did at every step. From the very first day he took office. How much better would Obamacare be if they worked at fixing the problems with it, instead of holding over 60 votes to repeal it, knowing they wouldn't get through the Senate or a veto, and having nothing whatsoever at all to replace it with? After 8 years, still have nothing to replace it with.

But yeah, the Bush years were soooooooo much better.
