Trouble at Boston Marathon?

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

Go on, I'd like to hear this.

Plenty of others have explicated this point at length in other settings. Basically, terrorists are thugs and criminals and are merely using some sick twisted rationalization in an attempt to deflect responsibility for their own choices. So people who use "Islam" in some sick twisted way as a rationalization are called "Islamist terrorists" as a shorthand for their excuse, not as any implication of Islam itself.

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

I don't condemn the religion. I condemn the extremists.

And cop vehicles storming an area on UMass-Dartmouth campus. No other details.

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

APPARENTLY, it SEEMS like they have him cornered. INITIAL reports only. NOT 100% confirmed.

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

There is so much we don't know. It's too easy at this point to jump to conclusions.

The latest briefing said they were going to detonate explosive devices this afternoon.

The controlled explosion is indeed 100% confirmed to happen.

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

ABC news is reporting that the father of the two stated on the phone: Quote "If they (the police) kill him (his son), all hell will break loose".

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

Stay safe.

Thanks... I probably work in the safest building in the city. We have our own police force outside with their M4s... we should be ok.

Martial law has basically been enacted in Boston.

Or it hasn't... because if you knew anything, you'd notice that the national guard that has been called in his unarmed, and has to be unarmed unless martial law is actually declared.

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

Here is a concise summary of the last series of events. This is surreal.

By Devlin Barrett

Law-enforcement officials say their working theory of the events of Thursday night and Friday morning is that once the suspects’ photos were distributed publicly, they decided they needed to get money and a car to leave town.

According to multiple officials, this is how the chaotic night unfolded and led to a citywide lockdown Friday:

•The brothers allegedly robbed a 7-11 store Thursday evening. Shortly thereafter, an MIT campus police officer is shot and killed responding to that incident. At the time, it wasn’t clear the two crimes were linked to the Marathon bombings.

•The brothers get away in a Honda CRV, though it’s unclear where they got that car. They then carjacked a man driving in a Mercedes and made that man withdraw cash from an ATM.

•The brothers told their carjacking victim they were responsible for the marathon bombings, the officials said, before letting him go. Soon after that, police began chasing the stolen car, and the suspects tried to throw some kind of explosive devices out of the car to escape law enforcement.

•Police were able to stop the car and get the older brother out of the vehicle, but he was killed in a confrontation with police. The younger brother sped away in the Mercedes, leading to a frenzied hunt in bedroom communities around Boston.

Officials took the unprecedented step of asking people in metropolitan Boston to stay in their homes with the doors locked today while they looked for the suspect. The officials said part of the reason for the lockdown is that authorities are concerned the brothers may have had accomplices, and if so, any such accomplices could also try to take action

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

Chechens? Mein Gott. Their Islamists make AQ Islamists look like Camp Fire Girls. They specialize in killing children. Whatever else it is, this is the G*d d*amndest story I've ever encountered. CNN just showed a photo in which Hardword #2 is seen walking away from just having dropped his bomb and Martin Richard is also seen in the foreground, with the bomb just a few feet away from him. I'm not certain I could muster up enough professionalism to prevent me from putting one in his ear if I had the chance

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

Seems to me if they just skipped the 7-11 and went for a car they could have gotten out of the Boston area a lot easier. The robbery and shooting the police officer seems to be what brought everything down on them.

Edit: Did CNN just let an s-bomb drop during the interview with the aunt?
