Tournament Speculation Thread

the "show" for D3 Basketball last week was a 5min waste of time...if the host used it as an audition for WTOP10' he would have been lucky to make floor manager for Hockey Night in Oswego......
Dont expect any less for the hockey. Last years was a joke as well. The NCAA is trying to pretend they care about DIII, thats all. The real question is, will it leak before the show?

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

I think your point is that if Amherst loses they are not necesssarily a lock for a Pool C bid....and I agree. I was looking at these same head-to-head numbers yesterday - and I'm not sure why Amherst (with a loss in the NESCAC final) has such a strong case to get in over Hobart or Elmira? Looks like this could be a close call.....

Because until Plattsburgh beat Oswego last night, Amherst would still be ahead of Plattsburgh if they lost. It goes in order.

Amherst vs Plattsburgh (Amherst would have won)
then Plattsburgh vs (#5) Plattsburgh would have won
then #5E vs #6E/West

If you really want to have fun, you can go back through the comparisons and find teams that would beat a lot of the Pool C teams in comparisons, but were never ranked. (Salem comes to my mind from last year).

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

ok, now we all know the NCAA is all about making money.... that being said, does anything think that if the Plattsburgh vs. Amherst comparison is extremely close that they give Plattsburgh the higher seed based on what they know they can make $$$ wise on ticket sales in Plattsburgh? an average game in Plattsburgh has about 1500-1600 people where as an average night in Amherst seems to be somewhere around 200-400. again, we all know it's about the money with these people so I don't see this being to far fetched.... opinions?

Salem WAS ranked last year, but it was so far down, it made no difference. That's why I like the idea of ranking 7 or 8 East teams in the future.

Correct I should have said "in the discussion" but there have been non ranked teams with numbers.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

I just tune-in to the MSOE/Adrian webcast (audio) and get the video feed from Midd/Amherst, and I see the worst thing happen for the ECAC West teams... Midd and MSOE both net one at almost the same exact time.

Turning 'em both OFF!!

(Although I'll tune-in around 4:00, I'm sure!) ;)

MSOE goes up 2-0, Adrian cuts it to 2-1.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

MSOE 2, Adrian 0. 12 minutes remaining in period one.
edit: Adrian gets their first. now 2 -- 1 MSOE.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

Hey I think we already talked about this but I need some help. According to this post and the NCAA.com web site they are going to broadcast the D3 hockey selection show tonight at 930. Does anyone know what channel it will be broadcasted on or if it will be online and where. This whole process is interesting and I didnt want to miss it tonight!

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

OK didnt seem that easy, but I will try....Has anyone watched anything on there before is it a good broadcast?

I think this is the first time they've done the D-III hockey, but if it's anything like the other D-III "selection shows"...it'll be a joke.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

MSOE up 3-2 with about 9 to go.

Edit: Adrian ties it up with about 6:30 to go.
