Tournament Speculation Thread

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

Not gonna lie - that guys call on "Jeffcast" is quite a unique voice, but even with Amherst's win, I'm not sold on his comment on Amherst getting #2 behind Norwich. Any reason why the Lords would hop the Lakers?

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

No way! Guys gotta buy a clue sometimes.
Based on the comment he made right before about Midd not making it with ten losses, I think he is simply basing it off record which for Amherst is slightly better because Oswego has one more tie. The fact that they achieved that record against fairly weak competition means nothing apparently.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

Last week's NCAA West Region ranking has neither of these two teams in the top 7. I admit I don't follow the West (until it is tourney time)...but that seems surprising to me. What am I missing here?

And we're headed to overtime at Arrington.

The winner of this game earns an AQ to the NCAAs.

And MSOE wins it in OT.

Thanks. I understood that - I was just surprised that with the impressive records they both have it was surprising neither one would be in the top seven. I think I just answered my own question - both teams have a really low SOS rank. This is also another example of why the USCHO poll means ZIP.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

So Elmira and Oswego State take two Pool C's... now one could project that Hobart has likely entered the dance for the 8/3 split, and that only one bracket for Placid will contain a Western team?

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

The Raiders win really messes up the bracketologists predictions since Adrian was playing through the East. Might we see two preliminary games out West to avoid flying > 1 team to LP??

I don't think we'll have 2 Wednesday games out west. At this point, here's my best guess:

Play-In:

MSOE @ GA
Plymouth @ Elmira
Wentworth @ Hobart

Quarterfinals:

Hobart/Wentworth @ Norwich
Elmira/Plymouth State @ Oswego
MSOE/GA @ SNC
Plattsburgh @ Amherst

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

I would think only three from the west. MSOE V Gustavus on Wednesday and the winner at SNC on Saturday.
