you'd be foolish not to go to GLI because De-stroy-it is a "scary" big city. if you stay in the right places at the right time (just like any big city) you'll be fine.
I'm a Northern Michigan girl - born and bred - and in my day Detroit was truly a beacon - a working man's paradise - the industrial engine that won WW II - the high tech center of the US - the Motor City - the MoTown - the home of the Tigers - and some even remembered the good days for the Lions and Red Wings! - shopping at Hudson's! - the beautiful buildings downtown - the Art Deco - the Riviera Murals at the DIA - Stroh's - Sander's chocolate - touring an auto plant - the beautiful river flowing by - then even after - the nightclubs - the "after" hours place (stories I could tell) - the parties at the RenCen - slumming it - the old buildings to creepy crawl (Mi Central, anyone) - and then the sad sad and sadder decline ... yada yada yada ... Detroit was and still is a pretty cool city in a lot of ways. don't be afraid and enjoy the good parts left.
Olympia ... well remember when it was sold to Hamtramck for ice fishing ...

Championship is streaming on Fox Sports Detroit.com since the Wings and Pistons are taking up FSD and FSD+. You're probably outta luck for MSU-Tech and the consolation game, since neither of those are on TV. UM-BC is on FSD.
I'll be going for the first time this year, just the semi-finals though.

And yes, my bracket has a few mistakes I'm going to fix momentarily.
EDIT: Just fixed it up so it looks nicer and I fixed the mistakes. I left the 'Champions' part in blood font though.

Tech folks, I am sorry, I like MTU and all, but you guys are just gonna have to go out in the first round again. Tech winning would mean that MSU lost and that would bum me out so it's just unacceptable. The only years that tech is allowed to win are ones in which they do not play MSU in either game.

You do realize you are hyping up a .500 team right? A .500 record here in Ann Arbor is unacceptable, I'm very disappointed on how this season has gone, but Michigan seems to have found their groove recently.But I will give Mel credit, he's done a good cleanup so far up in techland. Still a little bummed because everyone thought he was gonna be Red's successor someday when he retires.
Best case scenario for the techies is 2nd place.
