tLet's prematurely start a GLI thread thread

Re: tLet's prematurely start a GLI thread thread

Settle down there Francis ;) You do realize you are hyping up a .500 team right? A .500 record here in Ann Arbor is unacceptable, I'm very disappointed on how this season has gone, but Michigan seems to have found their groove recently.

But I will give Mel credit, he's done a good cleanup so far up in techland. Still a little bummed because everyone thought he was gonna be Red's successor someday when he retires.

Best case scenario for the techies is 2nd place.
Of course I do, but they won't be .500 after the GLi so it won't matter, Michigan Tech will have its name hanging in Joe Louis Arena for at least one year starting a week from Friday. This is the first year under Mel so expecting them to have a record far above where they are at is pretty crazy. It's been a great start and the best case scenario is FIRST PLACE. Plain and simple this team can win this tournament, no reason to think otherwise. This should be the first time in a long time that Tech fans are actually energized for this tournament. I can't wait.

I hope Michigan winds up playing them. The GLI is kind of neat, but I'm getting kind of bored with the whole thing.

I know tech started it, but they haven't done diddly in it in a long time. It should be Michigan, state and two invite schools. Or make it like the Beanpot and have Michigan, northern, state and tech. An oppourtunity for big rivals to play for a championship.

Well to my mind every team here has about an equal chance of winning. No one team stands out or is left behind, unlike other years. I think the whole flavor of the tournament is because they invite top eastern teams to compete.I would not want to lose that. It's a national level tournament as opposed to the beanpot which is a regional level tournament. I doubt the final four will have four better teams than this and whoever wins it will earn it, big time.

You do realize that Michigan (12 & 10) and Michigan State (11) each have pretty long droughts too? I realize Tech's is the longest but to say haven't done diddly in a long time...maybe MSU or Michigan should have been kicked out in 1988, 1997, or 2007...just sayin'

Those are the two top programs in Michigan, kicking them out and having tech playing in Detroit with 3 invite teams....the tournament wouldn't make
nearly enough money to survive as it does with Michigan and state.

Michigan won 9 straight GLI championships from 1988-1996, and they have the most GLI titles at 14, plus, they're the closest of the three schools to JLA. Kicking Michigan out would run the tournament into the ground.

You guys are soooo cute. This is a new Michigan Tech, you won't be deciding when the Huskies win anything, you'll be complaining about what happen to the Huskies that didn't win the GLi for the first 30 years of my life. Gone are the days of Michigan and Michigan State dominating this tournament. ;)

Do I hear drum beats? Or detect anti-BigTen saber-rattling? How quaint ;)

A Most Outstanding Player mini-poll would work out to something like this:

The 2011 award goes to <select>(select one)<option>Lee Reimer</option><option>Greg Wolfe</option><option>Torey Krug</option><option>Drew Palmisano</option><option>Jake Chelios</option><option>Brock Shelgren</option><option>Brett Perlini</option><option>Shawn Hunwick's bottle of Prozac</option><option>Mike Merrifield</option><option>Other ...</option></select>.
Will you be attending the GLi?

Michigan fan pregame and postgame bar is Hockeytown Cafe. But since they'll be in both later games, Hockeytown will love us.

Cause obviously you could care less about actually watching live hockey and enjoying the GLI as whole like the rest of us.......

I think I need to start a USCHO d-bag counter. :D

Classic. I said pre-game and post-game didn't I? Got seats right behind the net to watch all of the Michigan goals and watch the Michigan name stay on the banner :D

Your reading comprehension sucks. HN said the GLI as a whole, you are saying pre and post game, game, as in singular. Not the same ****ing thing.
