Re: tLet's prematurely start a GLI thread thread

Heard an ad on the radio for the GLI, advertising four "powerhouse" teams. I couldn't help but laugh. BC sure, maybe MI if the casual fan is thinking back to last year's playoff run, MSU if you go a little further back, but Tech? :D

Re: tLet's prematurely start a GLI thread thread

I wish.

Don't think Mrs. TonyTheTiger20 would approve, though. Mostly because it's Detroit and she wouldn't be happy if I got shot. One trip to that city is enough for me.

Oh please. Quit feeding old stereotypes. I think there are sections of Boston and Chicago that are more dangerous than Detroit. If anyone should be scared, it's BC at the prospect of facing MSU again. The result will be different this time.

Re: tLet's prematurely start a GLI thread thread

Any TV for the 1st round?

BC probably won't be hit too hard by the WJC, my guess is only missing Bill Arnold.

Will be nice to have 6 Dmen.

Yeah, that should be a helluva 3rd place game.

Does smack officially start today?

Yeah, there are. But is your argument really that the worst parts of Boston are worse than the best parts of Detroit?

Let's be real here. Detroit has a reputation for a reason. I'm not "feeding old stereotypes," I've been there. Outside of the few blocks surrounding the stadia, Detroit is straight-up Tourist Target Practice.

Agreed. I'm hoping to stay in the "nice" areas downtown, where it isn't any worse than other cities. No way am going to be anywhere else in that hell hole, except driving along the freeways.

Like any other 1M+ city. Really the most likely place for a mugging next week is venturing in the crease in front of a goalie with short-man's complaint. Rage is rage.

Or stepping too close to the peoplemover 3rd rail.

When were you in Detroit last? Things have changed. If it's been more than a few years, you are indeed feeding old stereotypes.

Too bad they missed the first time...

Oh, maybe that's because there isn't such a sterotype, then. Shocking.

If you don't want to come, just stay away, no need to be 'fraidy cat.

Re: tLet's prematurely start a GLI thread thread

So, does anyone "own" the GLI? Like, who is responsible for the program, or the trophy? Does any one particular organization or school have archives of past winners, etc? I was trying to get a picture of the BU team that won in 2002 (I think?) and had no idea where to go.
Here is a nice history of the GLI along with a list of results by year.

April 2010. Frozen Four.

Or, I stayed around the stadia and didn't venture into the rest of the city other than driving through.

Re: tLet's prematurely start a GLI thread thread

So what you are saying is that you are just caving into steryotypes and are just chicken to find out that they are not true.

just a 'faidycat. Nice.

Since you have no idea about the rest of downtown, let alone the rest of the city, since you are too timid to find anything else about them- how about not trying to share your chicken attitude with anyone else?
