This Week In Hockey East

Re: This Week In Hockey East

From this week's press release:

Northeastern swept their weekend series and defeated No. 4 UNH in a shootout

UNH extended its unbeaten streak vs. Northeastern to 27 games (26-0-1) with the tie…

So, technically, I guess you can call it whatever you   u want

Re: This Week In Hockey East

More accurately it should have said Northeastern took 2 points from UNH for the first time since____. But who even cares? They're trying to make both sides look good.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

We have another midweek game on our hands tonight- BU at Northeastern. I'm really curious to see how NU matches up against the Terriers. It should be a tough game but I gotta go with the Huskies tonight. BTW I think NU plays BU in 4 of their next 6 games.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

From this week's press release:
Is it a deal where the SID from each school sends a summary of the week to the league, and they roll those up to make a composite release? In that, I can see both sides seeing it from their own angle: "we won a shootout"/"we stayed unbeaten". I don't think it can ever be called a sweep though, when the opposition takes points (although that may have been in reference to something else.)

Agreed, I'm excited for this series to start. Just discovered that Kohanchuk has been injured for a while with a hand injury, hope she gets back soon.

Well, it was a draw in game one. It will be interesting to see how "feisty" this gets over the remaining three games.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

I know that it's how the season plays itself out, but it's really weird that UNH has played only 13 games in conference, when BC has played 20 and zNortheastern 19! I've never seen that much of a discrepency(?) before....it leaves us making excuses for our placement in Hockey East :o)....then you add only 3 more home games for the regular season.....man, where did it go so fast!!

Re: This Week In Hockey East

I may be looking at the wrong page but I believe NU has only played 16 league games. Besides UNH and Vermont (prob due in part to the postponed game), all teams have played 15-16 games so it isn't that large of a discrepancy.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

you're correct, BC and NU have played 16 games.
Zoof, I think you're adding up the Wins, Losses, Ties and SOW's and getting your 20 and 19 games played, but the SOW's already show up in the Ties column :)

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Bingo Gibber...that's a DUH on my part.....I'm too old school...only 3 columns are needed!

Re: This Week In Hockey East

that's a DUH on my part...

What I am not getting is the lack of excitement in Hockey East in general this season! I am also surprised by the lack of fans coming out of the woodwork when the teams are doing great!

NU still only has two regular "fans" - Bergey and Chip. I seem to be it for PC, although we sometimes hear from Cavbim and Jon. And with Justamom "aged out", you never hear about UConn.

Less than a month left in regular play...let's go people!!

And we rarely still hear from the BC boys!

:D Just seeing who's out there ;)

That being said, I have always been surprised by the lack of support from Uconn fans. We would probably need CPR paddles to get the last UConn thread to the front page

And you wonder why???

I must say that I was VERY disappointed to not see ANY of the lads at the Skating Strides event. Thoroughly inexcusable.(though they will no doubt have one :( )

Seriously?

I posted when my team was terrible and picked against every weekend. It's not a personal attack, just an unqualified hockey fan making predictions. :)

They're alot of fun, even with their brass instruments. Stirring rendition of Three Blind Mice.

Seriously?

Honestly, not at all serious!! Just havin' a little fun with you!

I did find it ironic that their absence is noted, and then you both pick their team to lose to Dartmouth!

I mean.... C'mon?? Where's the Hockey East pride?

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Well, I'll chime in as the lone voice of the Catamounts.........

I know I've been quiet this season, and I think it's a reflection of how frustrating the season has gone. The team started out well in the early going, with nice wins over Clarkson, Princeton, and BC. It was downhill from there, though, with the team struggling offensively against most everyone.

Vermont's season (and their push for a HE playoff spot) can be summed up with ONE stat: in 5 games against NU and Maine, they have scored 1 goal. ONE goal. That's the season, and that's why it's been frustrating cheering them on, knowing their 1st ever playoff appearance will be delayed at least for another year.

I'd still like to see them finish strong, though, and give them something to carry into next season.
