This Week In Hockey East

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Honestly, not at all serious!! Just havin' a little fun with you!

I did find it ironic that their absence is noted, and then you both pick their team to lose to Dartmouth!

I mean.... C'mon?? Where's the Hockey East pride?

Hey it aint about pride. If I thought they'd pull it together I'd pick them. But sadly I don't. I'd love to be proven wrong though!! :) ;) The team surely has enough talent but just aren't getting the job done for whatever reason...

Well, tonight's their chance, as it seems to be the contest of the underperformers. I think if BC can shut down DC's offense, and they have an advantage defensively, in Kingston and Boyles, they can win. I will predict a tie though.

Unfortunately, tonight wasn't the night. DC 6 - BC 3. Final.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Durocher says that Jenelle Kohanchuk is most likely out for the season with a severe thumb injury.

This really hurts BU's chances of doing anything more than they already have this season.

That is unfortunate, but she didn't play in the game against NU on Tuesday and you tied NU, so don't give up yet!

I still need you to win a few games ;)

So...we have the top 4 teams currently all separated by 2 pts or less...and all playing some combo of each other this weekend. Things are about to get interesting.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

WOW Vermont...2-1 with like 2 mins left. I'm glad we played them earlier this season. Looks like they're in spoiler mode. First PC now the Wildcats.

Well, guess I have to be happy about all the chippity this year, and hope it doesn't affect us too much:(

A little intensity might go a long way ~

Kudos to Vermont for playing a gritty game. Again.
Hopefully the NH 'Cats are hungry when VT comes to the Whitt for 2

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Gotta be impressed with how things are going up there by the lake. Good to see that within the league there are no longer any "gimmies" on the schedule.

Be careful what you and Bergy on the other thread wish for.

Personally my thought is for Providence, and the same for NU, is you steel yourself up for the task and take out UConn yourself. I can not for the life of me see whey someone would want a team that knows how to win start to build real momentum as the playoffs approach. After today 3 of UNH's final games are at home. UNH's schedule is much easier then UConn's.

Just hope this doesn't go to a shootout and the are 3 poionts given for this game.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

You make an excellent poing cavbim. I was thinking more in terms of home ice, but that won't matter if Northeastern can't take care of its own business. UNH with momentum and their rink size is a huge advantage for them, as as they'll probably get an at-large at the least, I'd like to see someone else win the HEA tourney.

Well, given the way the season has gone there is no telling who will do what on home ice when. Certainly looks like it will come right down to the last weekend of the season before we know who is playing whom where.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Looking at the schedules for the last couple of weeks, it seems there is just enough cannibalism to preclude four teams from emerging in the top 8 despite many very strong performances As opposed to predicting game by game, if HE were fortunate enough to have three representatives, who might they be?

If I had to pick today, I think I'd have to pick NU, PC, and UNH

Therefore, I guess I'd pick this weekend as follows:

Fri 02/12/10 Boston College at Maine 7:00 p.m.
Fri 02/12/10 Connecticut at Providence 7:00 p.m.

Sat 02/13/10 Boston College at Maine 2:00 p.m. Tie
Sat 02/13/10 Vermont at New Hampshire 2:00 p.m.
Sat 02/13/10 Northeastern at Boston University 2:00 p.m.
Sat 02/13/10 Providence at Connecticut 4:00 p.m.

Sun 02/14/10 Vermont at New Hampshire 2:00 p.m.
Sun 02/14/10 Boston University at Northeastern 2:00 p.m.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Hmm, I think UConn has a better shot than NU at the moment. That can change if NU is able to get out of a rut and sweep BU though. UConn hasbeen playing so well (minus the loss to UNH), and while NU has a better overall record than PC, PC has a better record against ranked teams.

I think PC and UConn split this weekend, but otherwise I agree (and hope!) your predictions are right.

I think I would have to go with these three as well. Historically, UConn has faltered at the end. Granted they had a better January than in the past, but February is a different animal. In addition, their last four games are against PC and NU, so not exactly a cake walk.

Although I got some flack from Cavbim :) (and I have to say, I understand what he is saying), I was looking forward to the UNH/UConn game to see if they were "stoppable" ~ and they were! My prediction is they only get two more points to finish the season.
