This Week In Hockey East

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Ok, if you must "nit-pick", yes, it's postponed. I didn't mean to infer it would never be played again........

Practice Makes Perfect: Former Hockey East standouts Kelly Stack (22) Kacey Bellamy, and Molly Schaus of Team USA prepare Saturday afternoon for their Sunday (1:00PM) tilt with the current Hockey East All-Stars.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Too bad Melissa Haber did not get her due recognition this week.

Some weeknight games and my predictions:

Tuesday
Boston University at Maine

Wednesday
Vermont at Northeastern

Too bad Melissa Haber did not get her due recognition this week.]

Melissa Haber recorded her seventh career shutout and is now tied with A llyse Wilcox for the all-time program lead …

I have been really impressed with her play this year. I wonder what her numbers would be had she had more games earlier:confused:

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Scoresheet is 0-0, and that's the only thing that matters. :D

I do hope we get it going though. Yikes!! (We did get 1 SOG toward the end).

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Northeastern has stormed back with a vengeance, now outshooting UVM 13-12. Huskies have a 1-0 lead courtesy of the red-hot Alyssa Wohlfeiler.

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Northeastern gets the season sweep with a 1-0 win. Flo with a 25-save shutout and Wohlfeiler with her 4th game-winning goal in the last 6 games.

NU improves to 10-2-2 () and adds 3 pts to their Hockey East lead.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Re: This Week In Hockey East

Watched using NU's internet feed. Once again, the difference was Schelling. Back and forth game, Vermont edge in shots, PP's, but for the 3rd straight game they could not solve the goalie. Dissapointing, as UVM scored 7 times in a 2 game split late last season (including 4 pucks past Schelling in a 4-3 win).

Credit to NU, though. 3-0 for the season series. That's a big blow to UVM's push to make their first ever HE postseason appearance. The climb just got a little higher.....:(

Re: This Week In Hockey East

I had to resurrect this from the 3rd page...

but what is with all the Hockey East mid-week games? I know the Beanpot has historically been on Tuesdays but it seems that there are even more Mon-Thursday games this year. (I counted 15 outside the Beanpot).

Doesn't this make it harder for the few fans that women's hockey has to make it to these games? Or are you just happier because there is hockey on more days? :)

Re: This Week In Hockey East

I kinda like midweek games. Though I can't go to them I do usually watch online, and it breaks up the monotony of the work week for me. But yeah, there seem to be a lot of them lately.

They suck as far as getting fannies in the seats though.

Parents of College players prefer the weekend games. Kind-a-hard to get to any games not held on the weekend.

A parent who is six plus hours away from closest D.

Quite right. Attendance at last night's UNH - Northeastern game was 345, which is roughly a half to a third of our average in Durham. If we'd been playing a team with fewer local players (NU roster is relatively loaded with Boston area players, and Mr. Berman, who took the long road from close to the Mason-Dixon line) it could have been smaller.

There certainly were far fewer young fans in the crowd last night.

Other specific factors to consider though:
1) UNH is not in session until next week
2) Day three of snow, continuing through game time
3) Ice in all the wrong places - on the roads.
