The "Super League" press conference is now live.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

NCHC?

The Coaches came up with that one for sure.

Where was the branding consultant?

SCSU will survive. I just find it troubling that a few dip****s think it is funny that there will be smaller programs who may be forced to cut their programs.

as troubling as you find it funny to make fun of a city that was devastated by a flood in 1997? you sir can fvck a duck...

I think they came up with a name that will sound impressive on Versus and up in Canada, which at the end of the day is what this is all about.

The "National" Football League & "National" Hockey League had a pretty small geographic footprint when those leagues came up with their names [NFL - New York to Green Bay & NHL - Boston to Chicago]. So naming something "National" can mean where you are going rather than where you are at the present time.

Clearly the league wants Notre Dame ASAP. They should get them by August.

Long range they might want or dream about getting BC, BU, USC, UCLA, Oklahoma, Texas or Syracuse. Million to one shots to be sure, but a girl's got to dream.

I like your chances of nailing Syracuse.

If Miami and Notre Dame are any indication, they fit the bill: nationally recognized school with a tiny *** rink.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

In a stunning bit of gamesmanship, Bruce McLeod is announcing that the WCHA will be re-named "The Lost Boyz". :p

They'd have been better off using the Carlson Brand Enterprise at the U of M if this is the best they (or their handlers) could come up with.

Does anyone remember the old DG? The guy that readily questioned and criticized (when appropriate) his program? The guy that wasn't part of the machine? Don't get me wrong. I was never enthralled or anything in particular. It's just this new one, .... well honestly -- he just seems to be in full-on SHILL mode all the time.

Like in the Godfather, I started out as a criminal, but then became obsessed with becoming legitimate.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

Never said anything about the thread itself.
I'd be happy if you both just left period.

Don't worry, when SCSU has to drop the program you'll quickly lose interest in this board and will stop coming.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

I was hoping for something with Super in it. Like ... American Super Stars Hockey League ... go ASSHL

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

But what will those be? The doomsayers speak of program failures because of conference changes. Others see this as an opportunity for new programs because the conference log jam is now broken. There will probably be some of both, some failure, some new programs. But change always has been and always will be.

And others of us still were left out of the last conference shuffle and have no reason to believe we will be included in this one. Nothing about this is for the "good of college hockey," it is for the good of the individual programs...just like it was two years ago.

Yep, its just now that there's more schools that now hang in the balance right now.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

You really enjoy being a complete ****tard don't you?

Dirty has so little in his life that any joy to his blackened shrunken heart, why do you want to take this away from him?

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

I can only hope that with the new league, maybe he'll stay out of other leagues threads but since he can't find stable employment as the new UND mascot, I doubt it.

So if that is your philosophy, shouldn't you be staying out of this thread?

6 schools is not a problem, it is a solution.

It's one thing for a school to not be able to survive without a conference, it's another to fold because your conference is no longer strong enough nor contains the big name schools.

If you have a conference and are able to get 10-14 home games from that and still can't make it work, then the school just isn't committed enough to the sport to make things work. If teams were able to survive in the CHA for years, the teams left in the WCHA and CCHA should also be able to survive as long as they stick togeather.

Every other athletic program exists at these schools in conferences that don't contain any of the big name programs, I fail to see why hockey can't work in the framework if you already have all of the structure and organization in place.

That said, I also understand why the fans of the schools who were excluded are so upset over this, no one wants to be kicked out of the country club after they were a member.
