The "Super League" press conference is now live.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

Just once, I'd like to go to a game in Colorado (probably never will again) where I actually saw a student section of some value...

IMO, the DU crowd is too corporate. If the team isn't doing well there seems to be empty seats just like Minnesota but at Minnesota the student section is top ten.

not until after the first intermission ;)

DU. The Wrigley Field of the NCAA? Or more like Yankee Stadium?

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

Have you seen the attendance at Northern Sun Conference football and basketball? And those sports have a wider following than hockey does. Shades of things to come, and we cannot support D-I hockey on that.

Not only a wider following but for the most part, the schools left behind have had better success in those sports, even if they are at the D2 level and they still can't get the fans.
You guys have got to build your Brand up. Go out and demand that the book store gets cool shirts that promote Maverick Athletics and the University as well. Work on social media and stuff and get butts to the games. Work with local companies and get special promotions to go on at the games like T-shirt tosses and other swag. The bottom line is, you gotta make the students and the locals come out for the name on your own jersey, and not just the name on the other guy's jersey. Its going to take a whole lot of work, and the best kind of work there involves Winning, but if you do that, people will come.
I'll bet UNO hockey fans are no longer skeptical of Trev Alberts!
Keyword: hockey
Couldn't have said it better myself. I wouldn't trust any man that would cut a program the same day they won the National Championship.

Top ten? Really? Maybe in the WCHA  I've been to plenty of games at Mariucci and I don't consider 1/4 participation doing the same lame cheers to be in the top ten in college hockey.

You may have an excuse but the true blame will fall on the administration and fans of that school because they will be the ones who will have failed to support the program. I think that you sell both your fans and your program short. I bet all those BSU fans felt stupid for supporting their team when they were in the lowly and pitiful CHA and yet still made the F4 out in DC. Then again, I don't see any BSU fans whining that this is the end of the world, maybe because they have been through worse and they will support the program no matter what.

You're right, BSU played in a geographical nightmare of a conference with a tourney that turned little profit. They still managed to generate revenue, as well as schedule traditional rivals like Duluth and UND. The new WHCA will be a bus league. Travel expense will be low and the tourney will still have a considerable amount of fans (perhaps not enough to continue at the X, but there are a plethora of arenas in MN all within driving distance of member institutions). The competition will be more even, expenses will be low, big name rival games will still be played (not as often), and college hockey gains an extra school and 2 extra conferences. From my point of view everything is on the up and up.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

There are people who get things done when the going gets tough and there are others who just sit around and complain.

Mavs fans, alumni, athletic department, students, coaches, community leaders, businesses, parents and administration need to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

Start blogs, Facebook pages, sell advertising, recruit like crazy, lower ticket prices, build the student section, ramp up the pep band and if you need more ideas.....

You forgot one:

Raise student athletic fees

Okay. I don't get your point. I was only pointing out that if he wouldn't allow a raise in student fees for several other sports, why would he allow it for hockey?

I think he would have if more than just a quarter of the campus voted.
It was vetoed because of so little interest in actually voting for it.
If students came out to vote, the fees would raise.

Maybe, but I don't think you'll get much more interest for giving money to hockey, and he'd be open to big criticism if he allowed it when he didn't for non-revenue sports. And, I don't think he cares about hockey.

Re: The "Super League" press conference is now live.

Didn't they see "Vote or Die!!" by P Diddly?? If you don't vote, then you're going to be shot. And well, Tough Titty if ya didn't vote and they raise the fees on ya.

Actually in that diddy aftermath he didn't vote, so let's kill him.
