The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I realize that. The whole 'intent to blow' the whistle thing. The puck was clearly (on camera) free behind DeSmith bouncing around, not once was it under control. It happens. Even though UNH won, I'm glad it didn't really have an effect on the outcome.
I was sitting in the 1st row on the same side Grav was on and i could see the puck was free. Grav panicked because the scramble was going on so long. Grav should have been standing on the back of the net by that point. He was out of position. I realize the game was pretty much over by that point and it didnt determine the outcome but he should have swung from the left side to the back of the net to get the right look at the play.

They do say the mind is the first to go. Of course it was CSTV.

lol. It actually took me a moment to remember CSTV because there used to be Classic Sports and that also became something else (ESPN Classic). I'm getting there too Freds ;)

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

So despite the slow start and the loss last night, I am encouraged by what I see happening at PC. The team came on stronger in the second and third periods which I suspect is more indicative of this team. There were flashes of excellent puck movement and some good chances. The are heading in the right direction.

I was a bit surprised during the piece on Nate to show that game at PC against UNH, which I assume was the January game, where it looked like about 10 people in the stands. At first I thought I was looking at video shot during a team practice.

Last, thing, is it me? On the goalie interference call against Schaller at the end of the second period, it looked to me like the UNH player upended him into the goalie with a stick between the legs. Was there something else going on? In the end it didn't matter though.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

They played well after the first period and never quit, if they continue that way they will get a split tonite

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Weekends like this are why I don't attend many games anymore. I get enough frustration Monday through Friday. Sigh.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

The Friars competed well this weekend and outplayed UNH in 4 of the 6 periods. Bad starts are killing them lately. All in all we should be pleased with the effort they are giving all season with the exception of the BU weekend and maybe out in Denver earlier this season. Congrats to Alex Beaudry on setting the all time saves record last night!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Max Capuano has been removed from the Heisenberg site as a PC recruit. Anyone have any info on this?

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Big game Friday against UMaine.

I hope that those rogues from Maine leave Jon's car in one piece!!!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

The ProJo has a nice story about Alex Beaudry in today's edition - front page of the sports section no less. I couldn't find a direct link, but go the http://providencejournal.com and load the e-edition to find it.

Alex became the all time leading saves leader last weekend passing Nolan Schaefer, and having recently passed Bill Milner and Tyler Sims.

Looking for a good effort in Maine tonight. Go Friars!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Only a few more home games left! :(

The Friars have done better than most expected and will hopefully put forth a great effort tonight.

Go Friars!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

That was a fun game tonight, one of the best at Schneider in a while. These 2 points should almost ensure a playoff birth. Rest of the way should be fun

Huge road win for the Friars. They win the season series against Umass and now have a 5 point lead on both Umass and Northeastern with 6 games to go. They will play at Northeastern next weekend. The win keeps the Friars in 6th place.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

And in 6th all alone as UNH tied

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

It is nice to be in contention in February again. I am especially happy for the seniors.
