The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Has he been seen skating at all ???
I dont know, but talking with one of the other dad's on the team two weeks ago, he said Schaller could be back the following week. That didnt happen. Origionally was supposed to be a six week or somewhere there abouts for recovery we were told. anytime sooner would just be a nice bonus.

Friars just received another commitment from a recruit for next year. Brooks Behling, plays in the NAHL for Amarillo Bulls. He seems to be putting up some big numbers for his team this year. Thanks for the info chris. It looks like they have 8 or possibly 9 coming in next season, thats more than are leaving. Do you think they are done or are they gonna try to upgrade the roster? Unfortunatly that would cost some roster guys a spot if this would happen.

Thanks for the info chris. Thats at least 8 and possibly 9 coming in for next season. Do you believe they are done or will they continue to try and upgrade the roster at the expense of some underclassmen?

Believe this staff is never done recruiting, so if they find someone they think can help now, they'll try to bring them in.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

IIRC CBS College Spots used to be ESPNU and Cox carried it when I lived in RI.

CBS college Sports used to be CSTV -- ESPNU is still alive and kicking, just without a college hockey package :)

Cox does carry it, but I believe they only have the standard-def version of it.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Tough start last night with some defensive break downs and penalties putting the Friars in the hole 3-0 after one. I thought they struggled figuring out where to be on the big ice. Still, they played much better in the last 2 periods but couldn't get any sustained good shots on net. Most of the UNH goalies saves were pretty easy to make. (anyone think they should have had that goal with 14 secs. left. No way Gravelese was going to over rule his own call)

Nice to see Schaller back.

Great piece on Leaman and the team during first and second period of the game on CBS college sports.

Friars need to come back with a win tonight. This UNH team is beatable. Leaman's guys need to know they can compete and win against UNH, come out hard and fast tonight on the small sheet. Leaman said PC band will be there tonight and for the remaining home games. I think they are going to push hard for the students to get down to Scneider.

PC put up a good fight after the first period, tough to get behind 3 goals and come back on the road. That should have been a goal, but as soon as the whistle blew (incorrectly) the play is dead, so he couldn't have over turned it. It would have been tougher for you guys to swallow had it been a 1 goal game before that... (UNH got hosed out of a goal vs. MC 2 weeks ago and should have won that game, sweeping the weekend, that hurt a lot more :( )

First time I saw Schaller (albeit on TV), good to see a kid from my hometown playing well in Hockey East!

Does PC stream their games online? Good luck tonight.

Actually the interpretation is that the play is dead as soon as the referee makes the decision in his head that he has lost sight of the puck and not when the sound actually comes from his whistle.

Didn't see this play in question so I have no idea how that plays into what happened...just saying:)

I realize that. The whole 'intent to blow' the whistle thing. The puck was clearly (on camera) free behind DeSmith bouncing around, not once was it under control. It happens. Even though UNH won, I'm glad it didn't really have an effect on the outcome.
