The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Why is the Friends of Friars room open to the public? One of my BU friends was wondering when it became open to the public....I thought there was a reason behind it

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

So did the Friars get picked on by the refs or were the calls mostly legit? 6 goals given up on 8 power plays is pretty ugly and the penalty kill until this weekend had been pretty good.

Schaller is missed on both the power play and penalty kill

As Janney said on NESN Friday, Leaman needs more talent. It will take time. Meanwhile he has done more than what many expected from this group. Hopefully he can get them over this past weekend over one of the hottest teams in the country and back on the winning track on Tuesday. UML will be another tough game and a team that has been just a surprising as the Friars this year.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

The FOF room is open to all due to a licence requirement so it will be open for a long time

I was just wondering what the reason for it to be open to the public....I remember you had to donate money to get in that room a few years ago.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

After they rebuilt it they tried that and of course the old "lifetime" members were told their lifetime had expired and somehow the city got involved and this is how it ended

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

PC played a super game tonite....lots of jump on the loose pucks and the Beast in goal was terrific......the penalty kill was awsome.....great rebound from a bad weekend, hope they can continue on this road and we will be in the playoffs and maybe with home ice !!!!!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Alex Beaudry stood on his head tonight. Good win for the Friars and a much needed 2 points. PC really needs Tim Schaller to get healthy if they are going to make a run. They scored a lot of goals while he was in the lineup and not many since he's been out.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Great Game...although the beginning of the second period had me sweating. UML was pouring it on. Had a great time watching them compete for all the loose pucks.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

PC travels to face #5 Merrimack tomorrow. Something tells me it won't be quite like the last time these two teams met. I just noticed the game is being televised on Fox Collge Sports (FCS). Go Friars!

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

What cable service carries fcs? We have cox and as far as i can tell cox doesn't carry that channel.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I have Time Warner Cable and the game is on FCSA (Fox College Sports Atlantic) - its part of an extra tier sports package. I know DirecTV also carries the channel.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I have Cablevision (Optimum) and it is part of a sports package that brings in a few channels that broadcast college hockey. Chris is right, it is on Fox College Sports Atlantic. Not sure if Cox has it, but a sports bar with a satellite feed probably can show it.

Directv didn't carry this game. They carry Fox College Sports but Fox College Sports "Atlantic" is, I guess, different than the national Fox College Sports feed? Either way I scoured the channels but no dice. Cox didn't carry it either.

I watched on FCSA but it was a Merrimack telecast they picked up. Had to DVR the game and just finished watching. Despite the loss, it is clear the Friars are headed in the right direction. They are playing way ahead of where they were a year ago.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I was able to catch the first two periods on WBIN in Boston. I believe Brendan Walsh was doing the color commentary during the game. I'm sure he knows his Hockey East and he seems like a great guy (Boston PD?), but I can't stand listening to him. I haven't seen him on any of the NESN Friday night telecasts this year but in the past his commentary was cringe worthy. Just way too many "ummms" and "ahhhhs", its always driven me crazy. I was happy I couldn't watch the third period.

Agree. As I posted on the Merimack thread:

My ears are still bleeding from having to listen to Brendan Walsh. Renders the broadcast almost unlistenable. Please call 1-800-TVRADIO, Connecticut School of Broadcasting wants a challenge.
