The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

I am still perplexed at Amherst over OSU
Current
Win % OSU .8333 vs .792
COP OSU .786 vs .750
RNK OSU 2-0-1 vs 2-1-1
Last 25 AMH 6-1-0 vs 5-1-1
SOS AMH
H2H Wash

OSU wins 3-2

If OSU and AMH lose Saturday
Win % OSU .800 vs .760
COP OSU .688 vs .641
RNK Wash 2-1-1 vs 2-1-1
Last 25 AMH 6-2-0 vs 5-2-1
SOS AMH (but Tufts vs PSU would close the gap some)
H2H Wash

It's now 2-2

Is the committee holding SOS as live or die?
I believe your current COP calc is off. AMH = 4-0-2 = .833, OSU = 4-0-3 = .786
Otherwise I think your logic is good.

I completely understand this argument but I disagree with it. People are mistaken when they argue that the whole purpose of the regular season is to determine the playoffs. Historically speaking, it's the opposite. I think everyone deserves equal opportunity. That's what competition is all about. Winning the SUNYAC may be 100x more difficult than winning the MASCAC, relatively speaking, but it's just to have champion v. champion to determine who's better. Sure, we can all agree that Plattsburgh is better than Plymouth State, but as champions of their conference Plymouth should have the opportunity to represent their conference and make Plattsburgh beat them on the ice (for example). Win your conference and you get your chance (if your conference has enough teams).

A conference is just artifice with no intrinsic meaning, especially when we're talking D-3 hockey.

Being the champion of one such aggregation says absolutely nothing about how that "champion" stacks-up against the sport as a whole.

And clearly, a Plymouth State has no business getting into the national tournament.

When that team displaces PSU or Norwich, just to serve as one-and-done cannon-fodder, who benefits?

Again? That horse is dead.

Why do we have Divisions in college athletics? Clearly being the D-III Champion says nothing about how you stack up against the sport as a whole.

Let's hear some BOLD predictions as we head into the weekend. Here is mine...

Murray gets hot and leads Babson all the way to the Frozen Four!

The kids on Plymouth St who earned the right to participate in the NCAA tournament...

St. Norbert, new to needing to win to get into the NCAAs, doesn't like the feeling and beats Adrian by more than two goals.
Hobart finally succumbs to the pressure, becomes the team that lost to Potsdam, and falls to Neumann, who thinks they still have a shot at Pool B!

Pool B is UW Stevens Point.
Pool Cs are Adrian, Trinity, and Oswego.

I already made mine with Hobart winning the National Championship.

If Babson beats Norwich, Amherst beat Babson earlier in the year which only helps Amherst's chances. My Bold prediction is a Babson win in the ECAC East, a Williams win in the Nescac, & a Plattsburgh SUNY win. Pool C bids going to Trinity, Amherst & Oswego. The west gets left in the dust this year.

This is the Kiss of Death
Bill Kangas and Williams make their first trip to the NCAA's.

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

Stevens Point, Amherst, Plattsburgh & Oswego Final Four

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

Hobart @ Oswego in the First Round, winner travels to Adrian.

2 Western QFs despite only 3 western teams in the tournament.

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

St. Norbert beats Adrian this weekend. Then returns for the quarterfinal and beats them again.

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

My FF 'Four': Point, Adrian, Norwich and Oswego....Ntl Champ: Point..

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

National Champ: Not Hobart Prez! Can you spell N_O_R_W_I_C_H?

Utica drives over to Plymouth St and beats the team senseless because they are not allowed in the tourney. Utica takes their place and wins it all, only to leave the trophy at center ice.

Never happen - Utica would never drive that far!
