I hope not, but I would have figured that MSOE would have dispatched St. Marys with ease. They were 0-and-freaking-6, and MSOE had just got the Adrian monkey off their backs about 10 days ago. If the MCHA is to be an improved league, like most of us (myself included) think it is, the league in general MUST win games like these.

I, like many expected MSOE to win fairly easily.....and it appears perhaps we under estimated this opponent.
If you drill a little deeper you'll see that St. Marys might be the best 0-6 team out there.
Four of those losses were only by 1 goal and the other two losses were decided by 2goals
St. Marys now are 1-2 vs. ranked opponents......all one goal games......two of which went into overtime.
I'm thinking MSOE will have their hands full again tonight in another close one.

Strange weekend in the MCHA. Adrian struggled all weekend with Concordia, with the exception of the 3rd period Friday night. Marian needed a 2-goal comeback in the last 90 seconds to tie Northland this afternoon. Finlandia got their first win over Lawrence. Only the MSOE-Lake Forest series appeared to make complete sense.

Zach Wilson has a really good shot to be MCHA player of the week, if there is such an award. The only player with a hat trick this weekend, and those happened to be the first three goals of his career.

The guys at Northland must be kicking themselves right about now. The LU and Marian games against Northland and Finlandia could have a real impact on how the North shakes out this season. Heck, even LU's tie with Concordia could prove meaningful when all is said and done. I like parity and competitive balance so you won't find me complaining.

I like parity too, but I was hoping for parity to be a little more evident within the West Region. Clearly the MCHA hasn't helped the profile of the conference very much so far.

The non-conference results of the MCHA teams have been disappointing. The Adrian win at Geneseo and the Marian draw with SNC are the only real bright spots. The Northland split with Bethel was good to see as well. I hope we see some better results this weekend.

well Genny hasnt played to well so far this yr, so may want to reconsider that at this point of the season

There are some real bright spots in the MCHA ........but not enough to generate respect for the conference in the big picture. Perception will alway be based on non-conference results .......and that's a tough one to argue. A couple of wins this weekend would sure be nice.

Worthy of special note is the fact that Northland's Colin Macintosh and Kraig Wright are at the top of the national scoring scene.:cool::cool:

The Concordia (WI) 2-2 OT tie with St.John's is also noteworthy. It was CUW's 3rd point, 3 ties, in NC games in the 5 year period that they have been in the MCHA. As previously stated, Northland has been relatively successful with their split at Bethel, and their scoring duo's national status. Add to that Northland's improvement in league play over the past few years, and things are looking up. Finlandia has had a tough go of it by dropping a couple of close games, but the team is getting stronger overall. LFC is another story. They are struggling, but ther is light at the end of their tunnel. McKelvie and time will show improvement and that the last coach, SG, was not the problem.

The top half of the league with Adrian, Msoe, and Marian will do well with the remaining NC and conference games. Lawrence has a game this weekend with Gustavus Adolphus, and two at Augsburg later this month. LU will be pressed to get the .500 NC record they had last year. Once the MCHA gets back to conference play I expect some exciting outcomes.

I think we'll see the same 4 teams in the 2012 Harris Cup as last year. However, I hope the battle for the AQ is not as predictable.:0

With their non-conferance records as is I think that whomever wins the AQ will be the only team getting a bid as they won't be winning an Pool C's

I am not sure that a Pool C bid will ever be available with the MCHA's stupid 20-game conference schedule.

Maybe so, but the league has not done itself any favors this season. Just about the only one that might have helped themselves is Marian, I think. Adrian dropping a pair over Thanksgiving weekend, along with MSOE losing to St. Mary's, is likely to be fatal to any Pool C opportunities for those two teams.

Not a good weekend at all. I am guessing that these are the best teams that MSOE and LU have ever put on the ice. They just aren't getting results in NC play. I was hoping for better.
