Today I learned that during World War II, a film was made based on a Broadway play by Irving Berlin. This film used extras from the US military along side an ensemble cast and the profits were given right back to the military. The musical movie even included multiple scenes with the military soldiers dressing in drag.

The star of the film? Who also participated in the drag scenes?

Conserve hero Ronald Reagan.

Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed legislation loosening the restrictions on child labor in her state, effectively undoing 90 years worth of progress on preventing child labor in America. This is a massive giveaway to corporate America, as it provides them with a cheap, expendable labor force that is constantly being renewed. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins talks about how disgusting this new law is.

If there was any doubt what the GOP is actually about this should erase it.

Michigan may wind up Exhibit A for what happens when people finally free themselves from the derp. ...

Doubtful. The rubes will elect R's in two to four years to "balance" the Democrats because they'll feel that the Blue areas of the state (where the bulk of the people live) are receiving too much money, and the rest of the state needs the same.

It's honestly amazing that 15% of the population of Michigan had a stranglehold on so much of the state for so long.

Michigan is weird in that you have a state with equal parts of "Ultra Urban" and "Ultra Rural" life/views/culture. It's quite amazing with me spending more and more time around the Detroit area each year for fishing stuff. Both sides of the coin tend to gravitate towards the extreme ends of the spectrum. It's just another case where my life/hobbies/interests have me seeing both sides of the spectrum operate in close proximity to each other.

I suppose New York State would kind of be similar, but I think NYC would keep it's general tone leaning towards Urban.

"That's different! It's OK when straight men do it for funsies. When gay men do it, it's sexual and grooms children."
