Not sure where to put this observation other than here- since it's an observation of what I would consider conservative texans.... Just got back from a trip there, taking 2 cruises from Galveston.

What an odd vibe in the state. For a state that constantly complains about immigrants and immigration, Spanish is all over the freaking place for businesses. And at the same time, there are so very many churches, many of which are warehouse churches.

So in the mind that these people are supposedly church going morality people, the number of times I heard people talk about being married and divorced multiple times was was pretty surprising. Even while they were talking about morality stuff. One woman bragged that she's been married 25 years to 3 different men. These are the same people who have claimed that same sex marriage would make a mockery of marriage. Seriously? I would have expected good church going people to be capable of putting real effort into making marriage work out really well- especially getting help from the church.

Then there was the veterans recognition. I've complained many times over the years I've been here how much I really hate that, as it's 100% "thank you for your services, sucks that you are homeless, want to kill yourself, can't get healthcare, etc, etc etc." If people REALLY want to honor our vets, give them real healthcare that is consistent with the kind of action they saw, especially mental healthcare. Anyway- it was really jarring how this was taken on the ship- this was just freaking words thanking the "heroes" - and there were real tears. Especially during the national anthem. It was really uncomfortable to us, knowing that this was an international crowd of guests and more so crew. We had to avoid the second cruise one because it was so wierd.

And then, the stupid "I'm proud to be an American" song during one of the shows- of course, people stood up and put their hand over their heart. Come on, people, this is a pop song, not the national anthem.

Hope to not have to go back to Texas anytime soon. Just weird.
 
I hate that stupid song shit. I got yelled at once for not standing upright with my hand over my heart for god bless America.

Not only is it a pop song, it's a pop song Lee Greenwold rushed to shove out there every single time there was some sort of national tragedy for his own personal gain. He's the ambulance chaser of songwriters.

Naziism has consequences.

The only way out is removing them from every office and every judgeship in this country. They are traitors. Loyalty to their party should be automatic exclusion from office or the bench.

If you are voting to end democracy you should lose your vote.
 
40 months in the slammer for a young man who pepper sprayed a LEO and broke a window on 1/6/21, which also happened to be his 18th birthday. That's after the judge gave him a break for pleading guilty and cooperating. His mom's privilege-fueled poutrage at the sentencing is deeee-licious.

He was apparently arrested for his involvement while attending Air Force basic training. So at least there's one dipsh*t who won't be joining the ranks of our military.
