The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I guess it pays to have representation on the committee. Worked for Neumann last year.

As I understanfd it, the west had 6 representatives on the selection comitee and SNC'S AD was the co chair. So I would say having representation did not help SNC out a whole lot. Could be a little frosty in the office tomorrow!!
On the other hand it should be a really good game, just not on a Wednesday.:)

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I have.

And a 7-4 split with adrian to oswego for a quarterfinal, UST @ gustavus for a play in, curry @ elmira for a play in, and plattsburgh vs. bowdoin somewhere for another play in, would be the fairest scenario of all, in my opinion.

Despite googlemaps, Adrian to Oswego is more than 500 miles by the NCAA's mileage table. norm1909 had the link, and according to that the distance was 520 miles or so.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I'm livid- DIII is a joke!A bogus tourney that M'ville could have easily won.Does anyone actually believe M'ville can't hang with the likes of EC,Oswego and Platty.

"By these rules, that we made up"

That does not make things "fair"

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

So why did Mville even bother playing the ECAC west championship game??
What a crime...dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Longer ago than that - it was 1999, I think. We all rooted for Midd to beat SNC, because it guaranteed that the FF would be at Krietzberg for the first time.

It's happened twice since then.

2001, New England College @ UW River Falls (UWRF 8 NEC 1, UWRF 2, NEC 1)
2000, Wentworth @ St. Thomas (UST 6 WIT 0, UST 10 WIT 3)

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

no offense. but judging by Manhattanville's non conference schedule...and also seeing how my Lakers absolutely mangled the cards. I have trouble believing they could hang :(

I'm not justifying or defending it - simply saying that your scenario, by rule couldn't have happened, but Adrian to Elmira could have.

By the way, I just put up a poll ...

I caught 3 Mville, 4 EC, 6 Oswego and 3 Platty games this year - you can't hang with Oswego on any night...probably close to Platty on a slow night and you are hanging with EC....

So Elmira Goes 2-5 Down The Stretch Loses 2 Straight To Mville @ Home And Loses The Conference Tourney To Mville @ Home. Has A Worse Record Than Mville And Elmira Gets In The Tourney.

Nice Job Ncaa...very Nice.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

This is the same committee that gave Neumann a huge boost in the rankings after beating winless LVC. What a joke.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Nice little clipping from Manhattanville's press release from yesterday's game:

"Manhattanville (20-6-1, 10-4-1 ECAC West), which will most likely receive an NCAA Tournament berth with the victory, will learn its fate when the NCAA Tournament selections are made on Sunday night. Check GoValiants.com to learn where the Valiants might be for the NCAA First Round, which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10 at campus sites. Elmira (18-8-1, 11-4-0 ECAC West) will hope for an at-large bid to the NCAAs on Sunday to prolong its season."

Not that I agree with Mville being left out and EC getting in....But this is funny:cool:

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

SNC has to play 2 games? And Plattsburgh has to play one to get to Lake Placid?
Thats awful......no wait, that's a crime.

Brucey at the helm!! :o

The NCAA Committee did what <strike>they were supposed to</strike> they felt would earn them the most brownie points. What they were supposed to do is establish a FAIR bracket that BEST represented NCCA Division III Men's Ice Hockey. What that DID do, is establish quite clearly, that money is more important that sportsmanship!!

I am a Plattsburgh fan, and I think they deserve a berth, CLEARLY they do NOT deserve a bye (over St. Norbert).

So is your room in your mom's basement. It's even funnier that you actually report on the women's side.

So will Emery do the right thing and politely decline...?:D

Nice try but I don't live with my parents. I would think someone as high up with Manhattanville as you are wouldn't go around USCHO and get in a ****ing match with me.

Dont vent your sour grapes with me. I have said from the beginning Manhattanville deserved to be in over Elmira.

That's why you have a stronger schedule, to compensate the "Non-Auto Bid"
If M'ville wants to play with the big boys at the end of the season, they should play with them during the season.

Two wrong's wouldn't make a right, they deserve a berth, they don't deserve a bye. St. Norbert is playing Adrain to ensure that the NCAA will not have to send at least one of them east.
