Those of us who reside in the center are not at all represented by the Demagogs these days and really resent their policies for ruining a good thing. We don't support the Repugnicans either. To heck with you and your sniping about independents; centrist is what I've claimed to be. Those poseurs who pretend to be one thing while they do the opposite really p^ss me off, and yet you defend them, for what?

Not sure why RottenFish keeps trying to sell the "I'm an indepedent" schtick, but he does bring up something important. This is a faux argument that somehow the GOP has outfoxed the Dems by insisting in massive cuts to the defense department! Umm...okay. I'll say to Fishy and all you knucks' - if you want to reduce the deficit by cutting the defense budget we lefties are totally on board. Most reductions thus far in the defense budget will happen as a result of the wars winding down. That's just the cream off the top. Now its time to get into the fat. A cool 1T ought to accomplish that, and its about time conservatives got with the program. So, as the Fish says, it isn't a partisan issue. Cut the defense budget. Nice to see the GOP on board, although one can speculate, since defense $$$ tend to go to red states, how their constituents are going to approve of this.

I thought the claim was 9 accidental hunting deaths in 2012 in CA and my link would suggest that while it's possible it would be the exception not the rule. Not trying to take the argument anywhere personally.

current defense spending is a waste... not of our current enemies will be attacked with a tank or submarine or bomber. and any outside the box thinking on how the next enemy will be fought isn't getting met either.

china? we already got missiles for that thanks to long term democratic defense build up. all set.

Yeah, no one's buying that act anymore. Just because you aren't pants on fire crazy like flaggy doesn't mean you're a centrist. No one who agrees with the WSJ editorial page to the degree you do is centrist.

This has gotten some coverage, but not enough. Simply put conservatives abandoning the defense budget would be like libs voting to overturn Roe v Wade. I mean, whatever happened to "the party of Reagan"? I'm all for it mind you, but strange times we live in...

So, someone either agrees with you and Rover 100% on everything or they clearly are a conservative...what is this, a remake of The Holy Grail?

Anybody that has a litmus test of "either you agree with everything I say or you are the enemy" is concerning.

You can't even grasp that somebody could differ with you on some things but not everything? They must be lying, they must be a conservative, they must be stopped, they must stop saying things I disagree with...

I'm pretty sure I could go back to the gun discussions and find areas in which 95% of the board agreed, does that make us all conservatives or are we all liberals? I don't see any people arguing against military cuts...so are we all democrats??

You guys represent the most liberal bent on many issues, that such a high percentage of online hockey fans are in agreeance with you is puzzling from a statistical perspective but don't think that validates your position on every issue.

You do understand there are Independents in the country right? Somebody has to be "them"...and guess what, "them" don't agree with you on every issue...but that don't make them republicans or conservatives...the very definition of independent would kinda mean they agree with you on some things but not others. That you and others roam around on here assuming everything you say is right and resort to 5th grade namecalling if anyone disagrees with you might just incent some to point out issues with your new world order...there are plenty of people on here willing to agree with you, you should enjoy the ability to debate with those who don't...or you could just call them "witches!!!"

Freshy's track record speaks for itself. He goes off on some long rant about lefties missing some hidden trojan horse in the laws just passed, posts three blurbs from the wsj editorial pages, then asks a bunch of loaded questions. Then when called out, he claims the martyr as though he was just playing devil's advocate or states he just thought it was "interesting." His talking points always seem to mirror whatever the murdoch empire is pushing at that time, which isn't shocking considering he appears to obtain his news solely from the Journal.

Additionally, it is certainly not a coincidence that he only posts news stories favorable to one side. Take his stance re: the nlrb appointments. He was all over that when the dc circuit court ruled they were invalid. Funny how he hasn't mentioned scotus declined to stay other orders they had issued, seemingly approving of their nominations, or at the least indicating it's far from the clear cut case Freshy implied. Likewise with the birth control rules under Obamacare. He was all set to bash the current administration. Funny how he hasn't commented on that one since the new rules came out. I've also never seen anyone use the term abortifacent with as much enthusiasm and gusto as him, never mind he misses the point half the time.

I don't give a fark if he's a conservative, i just wish he would admit it already. But ive seen more than a few of his ilk on the politics threads on Fark. There's a reason the Fark Independent (tm) meme is still going strong 4 years later. Freshy's spiel fits that to a 'T' with a little concern troll thrown in for good measure.

In today's climate, Nixon would be a RINO if he was somehow still a member of the GOP. I think it's more likely he'd be a blue dog dem. He certainly wouldn't suffer the tea party idiots at all.

This whole thing reminds me of a scene from M*A*S*H, Hawkeye and Radar are lined up for some roll call for Frank Burns when he is in charge...Frank calls out "count off by 2's". Radar leans to Hawkeye and asks "are you one?" Hawkeye responds in an effeminate voice "yes I am, are you?". Reminds me of this whole "outing" campaign the left wing crusaders have embarked upon. Wonder if they have some secret private chat room on here where they test each other's allegiance by asking questions only Jon Stewart would know just to confirm who is a real liberal American.

But you can admit you are a conservative if you'd like. I mean, not like there's anything wrong with that. For you I mean. {slides away on group W bench}
