The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Last night really was gut check night for da boyz and they came through with flying colors. Picked up the last two periods on b2 and Maine was just dominating MC all over the ice. Nice to see. Sirman had to make a few difficult saves and made them look easy. Looks like we have at least one solid goalie in our future.

Now I wanna see them bring the hammer down on the thugs from UMass next weekend.....they deserve it.

Nyquist is the schnitz.....parts of that game he simply controlled and took over.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Sirman must have been a brickwall in practice all week....gutsy move by the staff to throw him out there in a pretty much must win situation.....didnt see how shakey heartbroken Darling was on friday night, but the decision may have been easier to make than we think. Yeah, congrats to Sirman on a big road win and his first NCAA win against a tuff opponent in a tuff barn. Gotta do wonders for his confidence.

:p , no one knew he had it in him except Timmay:D . Good to see him do well, most of us have been bit chin about only having one decent goalie so its good to see another guy step up. First road win for a non #1 goalie at Maine since Matty Lundin??. The D is still scary though.

Good Game Sirman. D played a lot better last night with the exception of some short handed breakaways on the Maine PP

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

So will Sirman start Friday night? if so I have to believe Darling is hurt, I can't see switching this late in the season for any other reason when he's only won one real game

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Sirman was great. He made a few saves on breakaways. The only thing more impressive than his and Nyquist's performance was the unveiling of the highly anticipated Merrimack all decade team.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Think this team really missed Mangene's speed over the past several weekends. He brings a whole new dynamic and kind of sets the pace for the rest of the guyz. And how do I know this? Timmay's momma said so. ;)
Timmay for COTY and Nyquist POTY to go along with his Hobey ? Ewwwwww....hows that gonna sit with this crowd?:)

Surpised no one has started an end of season awards thread yet.

It's amazing that they went from the season being over yesterday, to wrapping up home ice in the HE playoffs today. As far as COTY, as impressive as Whitehead has been in taking a 9th place team and suddenly being in 3rd place, Dennehy might get it for Merrimack's 12-3 record at home, depending upon where they end up in the HE race. If they get home ice, send the award to North Andover. Parker might also get it for the Terriers' second-half resurgence.

I cant see Parker winning it this year.....chit with half a dozen 1st round or 2nd round draftees, whats he done with them? Underperformance in the first part of the season with this group, even with NC hangover, doesnt do it in my book. Dennehy would be a good solid choice, as would Umile, but Timmay's selection would be irony at its finest. :D

Hopefully Sirman's performance tonight has stopped the panic on this thread, Maine will only lose home ice if they are swept next weekend and Lowell wins both games at Vermont. The season is not over!

Against Umass at home. It's happened before with TIMMAY.

They haven't wrapped up home ice yet.

That's the spirit!

That's just TIMMAY. Are you saying it never happened?

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

They haven't wrapped up home ice yet.

It would take a perfect storm for them not to get it.

They would have to be swept at home.
Lowell would have to sweep Vermont
BU would have to get 4 points in 3 games.

Wanna place odds?

No, I'm saying that's the spirit! Bring up whatever negatives you can. There have been way too many positive vibes in this thread today.

Perhaps his ego.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

We still don't have a goalie with a career save percentage over .900 on the roster.

While actually talking with hockey jargon and not just playing celebrate good times over one win over Merrimack, can you explain why this is not a concern? Because it's a huge frickin concern to me.

it is simply bizzarre that comment on the spirit of the comments, but NEVER add to the discussion. Have you ever seen any of the current players play?

Have you ever watched Tim on the bench?

I was at a game this season at BU... and the person I hate the most, Jack Parker, saw something Maine was doing... he quickly grabbed Bavis and a white board, scribbled something, spoke to 2 forwards, showed them the white board, they changed up and scored in less than 30 seconds. I just laughed and laughed.

I am not sure WHY a coach would want to do that during a game... you know ... coach.....can you tell us? or would you like to just say that I am being negative?

you have not been to a game in how long? why do you even have basis for comment at all, because you still have an internet connection?

there is a traffic jam of teams that are a couple games away from .500. that does not happen every year.

as of 7PM yesterday, Maine COULD have had a 3 game losing streak and MISSED THE PLAYOFFS in hockey east. they win a SINGLE game and they are assured of 5th or 4th.... and you are thinking coach of the year?

I am thinking ... "man isn't Tim lucky to be coaching for his professional life in a year when mediocrity can land a spot anywhere from 3rd to 9th in hockey east."

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Enjoy it while you can. The O is good, the D isn't.. I don't see them making any noise in the playoffs but it would be nice if they got to play for the experience. If they make the NCAAs its all gravy. I figured 6th in HE so they are over achieving in my mind. On the other hand they do have some talent so its tough to watch them lay an egg like they do at times.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

I looked up "split tails" and found out what that meant... but I still do not know what TF means.

would it have a w in front of it, usually?

No, TF is Too Funny, USCHO censors another version as in T FF.
