The 2010 Winter Olympics Women's Ice Hockey Tournament

Re: The 2010 Winter Olympics Women's Ice Hockey Tournament

I had the pleasure of meeting Emma Laaksonen back in her OSU days. She is a great player and an all around class act. I wish her and the Finns much success against Sweden.

I'll be pulling for Finland in that game tomorrow. It would be nice to see Emma and Minttu get bronze medals!

Ours is switching between CTV, Sportsnet, TSN, and OLN.
Coverage is already on when I get up in the morning through until 2 AM every night. Can you say sleep deprived?

Trillium, I can relate to the sleep deprivation (LOL)! I was up until 12:30 last night watching that game between Latvia and the Czech Republic.

That it was. I didn't wake up until an hour ago. :o

And my wife says that I watch too much hockey!

(sometimes I wonder if she might be right, but such illogical thoughts always go away quickly)

Guess who I am rooting for

Good one, Sweden! :D I think both games tomorrow will be real good games that could go either way. As for these other posts that contain the words "too much hockey," there's no such thing as too much hockey! Oh, and here's to you nite owls that stayed up for the game that came on after Latvia vs Czech Republic. You got me beat on that! I need to hustle out of here so I can get home in time for Canada vs Russia. It's a shame one of these teams is going to be done in the quarterfinals. Sorry Russia, gotta pull for our neighbors ... Go Canada Go!!!

Re: The 2010 Winter Olympics Women's Ice Hockey Tournament

And with no German teams left, the Italians are now rooting for the Americans. :D

They speak German in Switzerland. As someone with Germanic roots, maybe I should be rooting for the Neutral team tonight ?.

"Die Schweiz gewinnt im Penaltyschiessen gegen Weissrussland und steht heute um 21.00 Uhr gegen die USA in Viertelfinal! "

Geht Schweiz Geht :D

As I watch the hockey, both the men and women, it sounds to me like the largely Canadian crowd, as the dominant audience apparel would indicate is cheering rather enthusiastically for Team USA opponents.

Time to silence this partisan crowd, just like in the mens game the other night! :D  :D

Yeah, but they really made the games interesting last night, cheering for the underdog teams. I'm sure Latvia thought they were playing a home game with the way the crowd was chanting and going ballistic each time they scored to come from behind and tie the game up.
