The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Good stage today although I would have like to see Rodriguez, Uran or Nibali from my team win.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Pretty cool race so far. Nice sprint with a surprise ending. Then two stages with big guns fighting it out for glory and time.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

We just got a press release at work stating that Trek will be sponsoring the Schleck bros Luxembourg team next season as well as Radioshack.
Nice!

Also states that the team will be riding Di2 due to their "shifting reliability". That made me laugh, obviously a shot at SRAM after the shifting fiasco during the Tour. :)

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Cav misjudged that one, went way earlier than he normally does.
Great win for Farrar, he just hung on Cav's wheel until about 150m to go.
Cav sat up at the end, allowing Fernandez to come around him too.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

I shuffle my roster to get Cav, all the while knowing I should take Farrar because of decency. I take Cav and lose to the rider I like. Brilliant! :)

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

I hate this about Cav. I don't know why he has that attitude but it really grates on me.

His attitude like that is probably one of the main reasons that he won't win the green jersey...unless that side of him changes. He sits up the second that he realizes he won't win...where guys like Hushovd are grinding for every place.

Titleist is back in the lead for the Fantasy League! Bringing home the hardware for the USCHO League! Dude, you could win yourself a new bike!

The player with the most accumulated points after the final stage on Sunday 25 July will be declared the winner, and they will receive the first prize of a Giant Defy 3.5 bike from CycleSurgery. In the event of a tie the total final scores of the players' final teams will be compared. The next ten players in the overall rankings will receive an Endura CycleSurgery jersey.

Of course, it also says that you would have to pay to have it shipped from the UK, but that's well worth it. :)

Well there are a number of problems there, 1) I'm sure that I/my team will choke somewhere along the line. 2) Today's stage was lucky, period. I never really thought that Fernandez, Seb. Chava, AND Weyland would end up in the top 6 (though according to the page it wasn't Weyland or at least I'm not currently getting points for it being him (I suspect that because lavuelta initially said it was Tosatto there will be an adjustment)). 3) And most problematic, I haven't ridden a bike in about 12 years, and that was simply from one end of a dorm hall to the other. But if someone wanted to give me a bike, I probably could use it!

What would make me feel more confident about my chances was finding a way to swap DeGregorio for Tondo (6.7 vs. 7.1) I need to make that happen! On the plus side, my team's value is UP to 159 and change.

I noticed that on Weylandt as well (he's on my team too). All the sites I've seen show Tossato in 4th and Weylandt in 191st (over 4min back). Not sure if that is right or not.

I've been trying to swap Moncoutie for Anton and one of my DS riders for Tondo, but the points haven't worked out as of yet...

I picked Farrar because I figured he may stay till the end while I expected Cav to abandon, once I heard about transfers I debated about switching to Cav but with the puking stories stayed with Tyler. I guess I'm glad I didn't hear the stories about Tyler being sick too. :D

Lavuelta.com initially had it as Tosatto, but now have Weylandt and the fantasy site is now giving me/us points for Weylandt in 4th. It had to be Weylandt as there as NO WAY that QST was going to give Grandpa Tosatto a full lead out.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Decent sized group to contest that stage there. The pace wasn't that high on the Cat 2 climb.
Hushovd takes it over Bennati.

Hushovd, Bennati, Bole, Davis, Pozzato, Gilbert, Velits, Urtasun, Dumoulin, Roche are the top 10.

Velits has been very impressive in this Vuelta. Still holding a high position in GC and then a nice sprint today too.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

When I saw the profile today I suspected a Thor, Freire or Pozzato win, pretty uneventful stage looks like the first big shakeup may come on Friday.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Lampre with a phenomenal leadout see Petacchi win ahead of Cav, Haedo, Weylandt, and Farrar!

Petacchi had the juiced wheels on that one.
Looks like Cav got boxed in a bit by Petacchi and then Farrar had to slow when Haedo went into his line. Doubt it would have mattered much, Petacchi had it regardless.

Another mess-up with Weylandt? The sites are saying that was Stauff from QS, not Weylandt.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

I think the best explanation of the Weylandt situation is its the Vuelta! They make errors like that all the time...Harmon on Eurosport said, and I try to quote: "I'm sure it was Weylandt but they have Staubb. They said Tosatto two days ago and it wasn't, but I could be wrong this time, I guess."
