The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

This Luxembourg team is going to be stacked:

http://velonews.competitor.com/2010...n-gerdemann-to-luxembourg-project_147998?news

Fuglsang, Wegmann, and Gerdemann all added as well to join Frank and Andy Schleck, Daniele Bennati, Dominic Klemme, Maxime Monfort, Giacomo Nizzolo, Bruno Pires, Davide Viganò, Jens Voigt and Wouter Weylandt.

Rumor has it that Fabian is joining the fun as well.

I want to know who is backing that team. That's some serious cash floating around there...

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

BTW, did anyone ever receive their jerseys/goodies from that road.cc website after USCHO dominated the Fantasy Vuelta? I think at least 3 of us took home some sort of prize.

I haven't received anything, even after I emailed them and told them that I would pay for any shipping charges from the UK.

Oh well...

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Nothing received here either.

Got to ride a Cannondale Lefty this week in Denver. Bike was ok, but hard to tell in the conditions. I had a thirty mph wind pushing me up a small mountain (foothill), then had it in my face on the way back down. This was perfect for me, I don't like fast decents and needed the help on the way up. Got to about 100 yards from the top and had to turn into a cross wind. Had to stop for concern about getting blown off the side of a mountain.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Yeah I know. I was simply going to walk the bike up the last 100 yards, but I almost tipped simply doing that. :)

My road.cc t-shirt showed up today, so you guys who won the jerseys are in good shape.

What did you think of the Lefty fork? I used to have an older C-dale mtb with a Headshok front fork that was decent until the lockout blew and then the rest of the fork slowly went downhill as well. ;)

Seriously? Funny, nice timing on my post earlier...I don't know what made me think of it today.
Cool, I'll look for mine in the mail as well then! :)

rufus, are you by chance the same rufus that posts on the RBR forum? :)

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Shipped off one of my babies to a new home today. *sniff*

Had to do it, as I haven't ridden the thing in maybe six years, and needed to thin the herd to make room for the new one to come. Plus a little cash to go toward it doesn't hurt.

And now, in addition to the full suspension, I've got a jones for a nice steel hardtail 29'er, after being passed on the trail the other day by a guy on his nice shiny blue Niner 29'er. Think maybe next year I might pick up a Gunnar Rockhound 29'er frame, and collect part sto build it up when I can. I have a feeling my poor Blizzard is gonna be as neglected as this poor Stumpjumper was.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

In a fit of madness, I signed up today for the first stage of the 2011 Etape du Tour on July 11, which includes Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier, and a finish at the top of Alpe d'Huez. I've never done anything remotely this hard, but at least it's only 109 km. Some guys took 3+ hours to haul themselves up Col du Tourmalet in last year's event, so I don't think I'll come in last...

It's only 2.5 hours from my apartment, so it was just too good to pass up.

Courtesy of brianvf and the best brand-new bike shop in the US (Trek West of Phoenix), I'll be riding my new Trek Madone 5.2, which I'll take possession of in January!

Awesome!! That's a great route for the Etape this year. The Galibier is uber long. We did that same route (over those same three passes) during our Trek Travel trip a few years ago. Very beautiful, and tons of climbing! :)

More teaser pics to follow for you in a day or two. ;)
