The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Re: The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Michigan Tech-Gannon. Gannon was absolutely terrible.

Yeah, but they're Gannon. They've always been pretty bad, but they have occasionally flirted with .500 ball. I would take Gannon over Trinity Bible.

NMU 34
FSU 0

(last week Grand Valley only beat FSU by 7 points)

We had better be ranked this weekend. We are the best team in the Gliac this year. Our offense is unstoppable and our defense is impregnable!

Prediction: There will be a murder in Allendale, Michigan on Halloween.

Northwood 2-2
Tiffin 0-5
Michigan Tech 0-4
Ferris State 1-4
Combined, NMU's opponents are 3 and 15. the one team with a pulse so far by being .500, only did so by barely beating NMU. One of NMU's opponents are guaranteed getting a victory simply because they play each other, which brings the all important SOS number back to being .500. Lets see how NMU does when they're not thumping on the lower end of the GLIAC at the moment.

Prediction: There will be a murder in Allendale, Michigan on Halloween.
Naw, I'm not like that. I would much rather watch Billy's face as he realizes that GVSU is that **** good and watch him go thru the grieving process. ;)

Got a season ticket to that game that isn't spoken for yet Billy. Your's if you want it. ;) :D

You're a true credit to your University. The murder victim will be the Northern Michigan University football team. Care to take a guess who the murderer will be?

Naw, GVSU won't commit Murder against the Wildcats. Prison Rape perhaps, and do a few things with a football that Serena Williams has suggested to be done as well perhaps. :p

So after watching that massacre I really wasnt impressed with Grand Valley. GV had a though time stopping a lot of inside run plays especially draws and play actions. Also there were enough holes in the secondary that if Tech's receivers could have caught the ball there was going to be some nice pick-ups.

They could have shut that down if they wanted to. Chuck loves to burn the clock, and he was letting MTU run those plays because it keeps the clock going. And besides, Tech still got shut out in the second half against the second string guys at GVSU.

Re: The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Scores on the weekend.

Friday night 7 pm.

American International 20
Bentley 30
- Bentley stays perfect so far on the gridiron. The Falcons look to be a safe bet for the playoffs at this juncture of the season. Only tough game on the their schedule looks to be a home game against Southern Conn.

Saturday Noon.

Northwood 0
Findlay 14
-Findlay is among a handful of teams in the GLIAC that are right now in the hunt for second place and a playoff birth. Next weekend games are all going to have an important say in that matter.

1 pm.

Stonehill 16
New Haven 23
- New Haven scores a last minute touchdown to beat the Skyhawks in their first ever meeting.

Merrimack 41
Saint Anselm 31
- The Warriors are still in the hunt in the NE-10, but they have some tough games left to play yet.

1:30 pm

Wayne State (Mi.) 38
Tiffin 8
- WSU is another GLIAC team that's still in the playoff hunt.

2 pm

Mercyhurst 19
Lock Haven 7
- The move to the PSAC has diffidently paid off for the Lakers of Erie.

Minnesota-Crookston 13
MSU Moorhead 24
- The State of Minnesota could do itself a favor and save a lot of money if they closed down Crookston.

St. Cloud State 57
Upper Iowa 10
- The Huskies from St. Cloud got off to a rough start this year, but seem to be bouncing back now. Having back to back games where you rush for over 550 yards tends to help a lot.

Minnesota State (8) 34
Winona State 13
-The Land Cows snap Winona's 35 game NSIC home winning streak and 19-game overall winning streak.

3 pm

Nebraska-Omaha 44
Missouri Southern 36
- The Red Mavs hold off the Lions in a barn-burner to get their first road win of the year.

3:30 pm

Minnesota-Duluth (9) 35
Mary 7
- You cannot hope to stop Isaac Odim, you can only hope to slow him down. Too bad for Mary they forgot to do any of that.

Bemidji State 42
Northern State 20
- Beavers roll past Northern State. A home date against Duluth in a few more weeks could have major playoff implications within the region.

4 pm

Ferris State 0
Northern Michigan 34
- I've already accounted for how NMU has been beating up on the lower end of the GLIAC so far this season. The big question is how much longer with the Athletic Department at FSU continue to allow Coach Pierce to continue to receive a paycheck from Ferris.

6 pm

Grand Valley (1) 55
Michigan Tech 7
- Grand Valley rolls and gives their second string guys some reps. Pity that the injury bug hasn't quite left Houghton just yet.

If we only have 1 loss going into GVSU week, we will win. If not, I will ban myself from ever logging into this website again. (which I'm sure most of you would love!)

Bigmrg-

I would love to come to the game. Unfortunately I just got word last week that I am being transferred to Scottsdale, AZ. I am set to arrive October 2nd...

It's going to suck not having any D-2 football within a short drive.

Lucky for you NMU will have more than one loss going into GVSU week, so you can post here to your heart's content.

I'm holding my breath and counting the seconds!! ;)

Actually, rumor has it that Grand Canyon University in Phoenix has been rumored to be starting up a D2 Football program soon. The one big drawback they have is that they'll probably have to join the Great Northwest Athletic Converence for football and they'll be going to Washington, Oregon, Northern California, and with Simon Frasier joining the league next year, Vancouver as well. Their only close opponent would be Dixie State College in St. George, Utah, but I guess that just means they'll be instant rivals then in that case. ;)

That's not a very close rival actually, as St. George, Utah is not a place you can get to very directly from Phoenix. Arizona just doesn't have the variety of universities you find in a typical midwestern state. There's the big three, ASU, U of A, and NAU, and then a strong community college system, and not a lot in between.

Yeah, but considering that Dixie State would be Grand Canyon's only bus trip for football, that would be close on a relative scale.
