The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Re: The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Sorely tempted to make some sort of commit about how the N at NMU stands for Knowledge. ;)

Same thing as what The Belt is around here. Problem is we just haven't quite figured it all out from the first D2 national champion, Louisiana Tech, just yet. Problem we have with that is figuring out when some some of the schools moved up. It does get a bit tricky to sort out. And yes, NMU would have been awarded status as THE MAN by virtue of their winning the 1975 championship.

Oh hush. I just don't follow D2 at all.

Plus... the bolded word there would have negated any jokes you could make. Were you trying to say comment?? ;)

Then what are you doing hanging around in this thread then? ;) :D

Besides, I've got a pretty good excuse for that little error right now. I have recently suffered a pretty nasty head injury. :p

Same reason I started hanging around this forum--I want to learn more. At least I ask questions and try to educate myself.

Bemidji State leading Mankato State 31-24 with less than 3 minutes left. Mankato was the tenth ranked team this week.

Not really a school here, but its an interesting enough read for you guys while waiting for some action tomorr... er, might as well say today.

Winston-Salem St. To Remain Division 2

Had a league all lined up that they fit well into both competivially and mission-statement wise, and one where the fans do travel fairly well in, and they decided to go back to D2 because they were 6 million in the hole.

From the Friday night game.

Stonehill 21
Merrimack 42

crashing out now, gotta drive up to Big Rapids to see if that rumored thread of some FSU frat manuring the away side bleachers at Top Taggart have any legs. Frankly, I doubt they would be able to pull it off. Well, pull it off without getting caught and then having to clean it up anyways. ;)

Re: The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Final

NMU 48
Tech 16

Tech was outplayed in every aspect.

I'm glad I wasn't there or I would have pulled a LeGarrette Blount on some poor NMU fan.

Re: The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Bemidji State reclaims the Battle Axe with a 38-13 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Re: The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Good gravy. We get Grand Valley next weekend too.

Tech is going to be 0-4. Unfriggingbelievable.

Might not be so bad if GVSU sleepwalks thru a game like they did saturday here against Ferris. They didn't wake up until Ferris tied it up 10 all in the fourth quarter. Far more closer of a score than what that should have been. :p

Re: The 2009 Division 2 Football thread - Or How I Still HATE Minnesota-Duluth!!

Scores from Saturday.

Saint Anselm 17
Pace 13
-Saint Anselm holds off a late rallies by Pace to get the win.

Findlay 21
Wayne State (Mi.) 35
-You cannot expect to stop Joique Bell, you can only hope to contain him, and limit him on the day.

Southern Connecticut 17
American International 9
-big grudgematch there for NE-10 supremacy.

IUP (13) 16
Mercyhurst 20
- Good win over a ranked opponent for the Lakers of Erie. :D

Northern Michigan 48
Michigan Tech 16
-Members of the MTU Pep band are probably a little better to give you an oppinion of the game here than me. However, my initial gut feeling about this one is that there's a great disturbance up north in the UP.

Bentley 23
New Haven 15
-Bentley beats UNH! Well, that's probably about the only time you'll get to see that headline being used around here. ;) :D

MSU Moorhead 13
Bemidji State 38
-The Beavers contain the Dragons all day. :D

Nebraska-Omaha 27
Northwest Missouri (6) 37
-The Red Mavs go to Maryville, and its a tough place to play. The Bearcat faithful can be very hostile when riled up.

Grand Valley (1) 17
Ferris State 10
-The Bulldogs nearly caught the Lakers napping.

Wayne State (Ne.) (17) 34
Minnesota State (8) 37
- This game went into double overtime, but the Purple Mavs got by the Other Wayne State.

Augustana 21
Minnesota-Duluth (9) 42
-Duluth handles an improved Auggie team. With Mankato and Duluth not facing each other in the regular season, a postseason matchup between the two squads could be in the cards.

Northern State 17
St. Cloud State 28
-First win of the year for St. Cloud. Not that big of a surprise given how tough the Huskies schedule has been.

Oh, and from Friday night.
Stonehill 21
Merrimack 42
- A fast start early was what lead to the Warrior win.
