The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

I'm really confused. Apparently the regular season has started but the Boston Bruins are no where to be seen. Take today for example. There were these guys in black jerseys on the ice against Colorado but they played nothing like last year's team. In fact, they even had a really tall guy wearing the Chara jersey but it clearly wasn't him because he was getting beat to lose pucks and out of position. So does anyone know where the Bruins? I kinda wanna tell them that the season started.

As I've said before, they have little in the way of talent. While I admire your support of the team, I have a feeling they were playing way over their heads last year on emotion or whatever, and now are coming back to Earth. Why are they paying a guy who scores 20+ points a year 4M bucks a year? I know he fits a marketing scheme, but to recreate the "Big Bad Bruins" of the 70's you'd also need top level talent, as Orr, Esposito and Bucyk (among others) made up the core of that team. It wasn't just a bunch of hard working stiffs. I really don't like the way this team is set up. Its Sinden-esque. Every team needs a guy or two at least that you can count on to score goals in the clutch. Goal scoring by committee rarely works come playoff time. Don't know if Kessel was that guy, but he could have been, a lot more so than the players that are left. Bergeron? Wheeler? Lucic? Who really expects these guys to win the game for you?

That goal was from Aaron Fox, who played for Mankato in the late 90's.

Many sites try to tell you he was a Gopher, but he was indeed a Landcow instead.

Buffalo's scored more in 35 minutes on the Red Wings then they did in their first three games combined.

And Detroit's going to Howard.

Tyler Myers looks awfully fun for Buffalo. 6'8" defenseman with a huge shot AND skates fast? That's fun.

JIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!

I'm going to miss seeing him on the Griffs when they play against Chicago. I've always liked him, even if he has a nervous tick that makes him shake after three goals get scored on him. :D

Is the NHL Network worth paying $4.95/month?

Vanek out for several weeks.

And for those following the story they found the Bruins fan in the Charles River this morning. He had been missing since last Thursday...

And in another highlight-reel goal video: Look out for this kid as a class of '23 recruit?

Robbie Schremp does that sort of thing too.

WTH? That's like part Mike Legg, part spin-o-rama. Sheesh.

Posted a while ago, but it is still ridiculous. These would be cooler if they were in-game goals though, not skills-competitions
