Sunyac 21-22

Some of these comments seem to suggest a uniformity among SUNYAC schools that doesn't exist. This includes sources of funding for athletics (e.g., coaches salaries, facilities/maintenance, equipment, student workers). Students' athletics and recreation fees vary as well. In addition, at some SUNYAC schools student-athletes have alternative ("preferred") registration, at others they don't. At some SUNYAC school athletics is considered a college sponsored activity, so student-athletes are excused for missing classes for travel and games. At others, they are not, and professors can (and sometimes do) take off points for missing class. Etc., Etc., Etc.

My apologies for not being on the board lately…like the last year or so…how far back do i have to go to find the comments you are speaking about….and your source material for the inconsistencies…are they published somewhere?

I speak on behalf of all Laker fans who wanted to be at this game in Geneseo tonight. Most of us and it is a large group will not be there. No not because of Covid, because Geneseo refuses to sell tickets online or on the phone. Last week we were told tickets will be available at 5:30 at the Ira Wilson rink. Yesterday we find out the general admission tickets will be sold at 9:00 to 12:00 Saturday at Geneseo. With any remaining tickets to be sold at 5:30. It is a long drive in the winter to show up and find out you cannot buy tickets. At Oswego you can purchase tickets a month before the game online and you will not be waiting in line. SUNY Plattsburgh also went online several years ago and we have no problem there. C’mon Geneseo let’s come up to 2022 and quit limiting tickets

This is absolutely brillant for Geneseo!

Dude, I think you might have a future as a White House Press Secretary

After second scores:
Geneseo - 4, Oswego - 1
Plattsburgh - 7, Fredonia - 1 (Fredonia’s defense disappeared this weekend)
Potsdam - 3, Buffalo State - 1
Cortland - 3, Brockport - 2

Finals:
Cortland - 2, Geneseo - 0 (this makes tomorrow's showdown even larger; Geneseo led the shots 41-22)
Oswego - 7, Brockport - 3 (Lakers offense really clicking lately)
Potsdam - 6, Fredonia - 2
Plattsburgh - 4, Buffalo State - 3
Morrisville - 1, Canton - 1 (OT)

Durante, having seen him first-hand, is an exceptional goalie.

Between the Utica and Genny games, he had an .977 save %, and that was vs. (arguably) the best two offenses in the East. 83 saves on 85 shots is tough to beat in that context.

Now that Omicron has subsided, we're going to The Aud to see Canton tomorrow. We- being old folks- love the matinees. And I hope that Canton brings a mascot :).

The tie by Cortland/Brockport tonight solidifies Plattsburgh's hold on the #3 seed. It seems pretty likely that tonight was a playoff preview of the 3-6 seeds... (and possibly a preview of the final - #1 vs. #2)

My point was simply that there is a lot of variety in the SUNYAC in how the athletic departments function. That includes how they fund their programs. It's hard to really compare them and say that because one school offers X or does things one way, the other ones should too. It's a lot more complicated than that. My source material comes from firsthand knowledge.

The SUNYAC website doesn't have it marked in their standings, but according to my math, I have Cortland and Brockport clinching playoff spots after Morrisville lost last night.

Thus, the only playoff spot up for grabs is sixth place. Of course, all the seeding positioning is still wide open.

The Plattsburgh/Potsdam game is BIG for both teams. If Plattsburgh wins then they have a great chance on keeping 3rd place but if Potsdam wins then they have a good chance of catching Fredonia for 6th. Fredonia has 2 games in hand but the last 4 games they have are going to be hard. Cortland has 1 game in hand so if they win out they could over take 3rd if Plattsburgh stumbles. This is going to be a wild weekend.
