SUNY unveiled a new program that includes all 10 SUNYAC schools and Canton.
SUNY announced a new tuition match difference for eight states. These states are Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Illinois, and California.
The way this program works is that if SUNY's out-of-state tuition and fees are higher than in-state tuition and fees at the flagship state school, students will receive a scholarship for the difference.
The flagships recognized by SUNY for this program are:
Connecticut: UConn - Storrs
Pennsylvania: Penn State - University Park
New Jersey: Rutgers - New Brunswick
Massachusetts: UMass Amherst
Vermont: UVM - Burlington
New Hampshire: UNH - Durham
Illinois: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
California: UC Berkeley
Hockey players and other student-athletes should be eligible but they may have restrictions to prevent getting in trouble like there was over Canadian scholarships becoming de facto athletic scholarships in the late 2000s and early 2010s. If athletes are eligible this could help with recruitment to SUNYAC schools over other DIII schools.
