Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

I was just thinking PxP. Yes, the Mullet Man is under contract.

There's only one true Mullet Man. He is a UND fan. Trust me on this one. Mulletrose, on the other hand, works for ESPN.

I Hate Christian Laettner...

was phenomenal.

Gotta say I've loved every 30 for 30 that I've watched. They're like the VH-1 Behind the Music shows (which I also love(d) - regardless of the artist) except with athletes/teams.

Great stuff.

Given the track record, it should be on Netflix streaming in a week or two. I'll check it out. I never liked that *er.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

I didn't like the Bartman 30 for 30, mainly because of the build-up and rumors that Bartman himself would actually be in it. It dragged itself out and just never hit a high point.

One that had all the potential in the world was the Fantasy Sports one on the first ever Rotisserie league for baseball. It was a really interesting story but the director screwed it up six ways from Sunday.

I need to watch more of them, but my favorites of the ones I have watched:
1. Of Miracles and Men
2. The Band Kept Playing (I know the name is wrong, it's the Colts Band)
3. Bo Jackson
4. The U part 1
5. Pony Excess

Least favorite:
1. Fab Five. What a way to glorify a bunch of cheaters. 1:45 of Jalen Rose talking about how awesome he is, with only about five minutes of actual talk on the scandal, and the last ten pinning it all on Chris Webber.
2. Bartman.

30 for 30 I'd like to see:
1. 1972 USA vs USSR Basketball
2. Flintstones - MSU's version of the Fab Five, except they decided to actually win titles instead of cheat and wear black socks.
3. Something on the integration of college football. Part of the reason MSU was a dynasty in the 50s and 60s was because they would take a lot of black talent from the south.
4. NBA-ABA or NHL-WHL. I feel like they've covered both in parts of other 30 for 30s but never had any exclusively for it. The St. Louis Spirits story of the owners still making money from the NBA TV deal 30 years after the team folded could be a movie in itself.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

The 1972 bouncyball one would be good.

I loved the Greg LeMond one (Badger something or other). The U (Miami) was excellent (Netflix showed parts 1 and 2 as one episode). No Mas was pretty darn good. Finally, the Henry Hill one was very well done.

It is in HD on youtube and it is I believe official. (posted by the 30 for 30 account like the rest are)

Eh, I can wait. Watched the Miracle one on youtube the day after the premiere, only b/c I had the day off. Given the quick turnaround of that on Netflix, no worries. If need be, I'll youtube it.

They kind of already did. http://espn.go.com/30for30/film?page=silver-reunion

I think the 1972 USA Olympic basketball story is one of the all time interesting sports stories.

A really good film on it was an HBO documentary from a number of years ago called ":03 From Gold". Absolutely terrific movie, although I don't think HBO has run it recently.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

The one thing I got from this: Seriously? There are some dudes in their 40s that kind of need to let * go.

Laettner was live tweeting during the game, talking with his detractors and fans all at the same time. It sounds like he's an okay guy, people just don't like him because he was in four consecutive Final Four tournaments.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

Nobody liked him back in the day.

I certainly didn't, but it was outlined in the show that the view of him that I had was perception rather than reality.

Unlike the tools that still wear the shirts, I got over it about a second after he won his 2nd title.

Was just a fun public enemy at the time.

Move on, losers.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

I never hated Laettner because that basket against UK not only earned me $750 but it shut the yapper of perhaps the most obnoxious roomate (yes, of course the guy was from WI) I've ever had. :D

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

ESPN sucks for not televising the Women's Hockey FF. They have all these alternate channels, but no where can they find a spot for the best women's hockey on the planet, which is not a niche sport. Shame on them.

I hate to agree with a Stinkin BADger, but when you're right, you're right.

Women's college hockey is not a niche sport?
