Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

I will ask again...what do you think will bring in more ratings? Should ESPN show what you want because you say so or do what will make them money since they are, yo know, a business?

Not to mention no one cares about Rangers vs. Islanders anyways...

Unless I missed the memo, the place still bills itself as the Total Sports Network. If they wanted to tuck a brief mention, go for it. To do detailed breakdowns of each division like that, it doesn't fly. That's why I'll stick with Onrait and O'Toole on FS1.

Also, you'd thin ESPN would fall on itself because the game covered the criteria of NY teams in contention. It was one of the best regular season games in a long time. Lots of scoring. Lots of drama.

It *may* claim the total sports networt, but never forget what the E stands for, and that it preceeds the S, and the S is so secondary to the E, there's an "and" in front of it.

Or- sport doesn't come first.

Extra-marital? Eastern-bias?

What does the P mean?

If every letter in the call sign a network uses has a meaning, what do the letters in SPIKE mean?

And 12 people will care. Even NHL fans arent going to flock to ESPN just because they discuss the Rangers and Isles.

And lets not pretend you care about it being the "total sports network" otherwise you would be pouting they dont show cricket highlights or talk about horse jumping. When was the last time they discussed curling outside of the Olympics?

You only care because a team you follow in a sport you care about wasnt covered.

If it were the Nets-Knicks in the same situation fighting for the division crown, you'd get storm team coverage of it from their panel of talking heads breaking down every miniscule detail of the day. Just because a group of execs get butthurt because the league told them to pound sand when it got lowballed, doesn't mean you can try to turn it to a niche sport. FS1 does a much better job of giving the league its due.

Goebbels would be proud of the smear job of the network has done to hockey.

And I would expect the same treatment if say the Blackhawks-Kings, Penguins-Capitals played a barnburner like last night, especially with no Association going on.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

Suspension from a major network like ESPN is sure a career-killer. Not sure how he survives this. I mean, look at how Tony Kornheiser and Bill Simmons have fared since ESPN suspended them.

On the issue at hand, Olbermann wasn't saying raising money for pediatric cancer is a bad thing. It is thinking that raising money for pediatric cancer somehow absolves you of all other sin. If that is the case, Bernie Madoff just wants to know how big the check has to be to get out of prison. I'm curious to know what the going rate for murder is. How much money would someone like Manson have to raise to gain his freedom?
