Really meaningless. Nice for Teemu, but Price deserved MVP.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

disagree on price for mvp...it was more about the team in front of him. i think doughty could have won it.

?? If I'm reading right, the MVP was Selanne. While I understand that they were picked by different groups, it is interesting that the Best Goalkeeper and the All-Star team goalkeeper are different. The with Kessel haters will note that he piled up points against teams beginning with "Slo" but didn't do much when it counted.

On a totally unrelated note, I gotta say how much I've enjoyed Chad Salmela's commentary in the cross-country ski events. He's very knowledgeable, good at explaining strategies ... the race within the race ... and his passion definitely shows. Kudos!

I'm sure the people of Kiev (the ones who haven't been gunned down) really enjoyed seeing the cuddly Russian bear in the closing ceremonies.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with the use of the word "cuddly"...

Creepy fits a bit better in my opinion...

I should have put quotation marks around cuddly. Paraphrasing what former Illinois senator Chuck Percy once said about politics in Illinois: "When the head nods in Moscow, the tail wags in Kiev."

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Well, we made it to the closing ceremony until this became a politico thread :p Pretty good :D

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I think Pio is implying that Ukraine is independent in theory only. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if his implication is really the truth, in this case.

Well considering the main thrust of the protests in Kiev were reported as being because the Leaders chose to make closer ties with Moscow instead of the EU as the people wanted, there could be some truth to it.

Western Ukraine is pro West. The Crimea is Russian leaning.
