Scores and Highlights 09-10

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Uconn 2 - PC 0 end of the first

Uconn scored 43 seconds into the 1st period. The other goal came on the PP.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Evelyn (UConn) gets a 5 min major and a game DQ. Deraney pulls the goalie and PC scores (after 3 near misses by UConn on EN). 3-1, 11 mins left in game.

Was it a DQ or a Game Misconduct, and did coach No Class whine about the call while a player was down motionless on the ice in front of a silent 'arena'? Where are you getting info on the game? Hockey East online isn't getting scores from that crap-rink, and there are no links from their schedule/results page which somehow has the UNH/UConn game listed as a 3-3 Shootout Loss for the Hussies last Sunday when it was, I believe, 4-1 or 3-1.... Quality

RPI takes down Dartmouth 5-2 (2 empty netters). Engineers sweep the season series with both Harvard and Dartmouth.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

This notes the first "Sweep" of the U of M by lowly SCSU.

I'm glad SCSU was able to beat U of M but I'm annoyed by other SCSU fans calling this a sweep since U of M still got a point out of the weekend.

A true sweep means the other team got NOTHING when you get all the points. I shootout win and a straight out win isn't a sweep, just a great weekend.

It is the best weekend for the Huskies in the history of the rivalry, though. The previous best was in the fall of 2007 when SCSU had a tie in Minneapolis and a win in St. Cloud, but for only 3 points to 1, because there wasn't a shootout point. In the eyes of the NCAA, of course, they are the same.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Bemidji St also earns a split with UND 1-0 on a PP goal with 20 seconds remaining.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

The game doesn't start until tomorrow at 11:07 (yet another Madison split.)
Just checked live stats and it's 6-0 Wisconsin late in the 3rd.

The win would move Wisconsin back into a home ice position -- tied for third in the WCHA. I have to check the WCHA tiebreakers... The Badgers were 2-2 vs. St. Cloud, so I think conference wins (excluding shootout victories) is the next tiebreaker and Wisconsin leads there.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Early start in the WCHA...

Six minutes into the first, UMD and Bemidji State are tied 1-1 on goals by Blais for UMD and Bauerfeld (PP) for BSU.

EDIT: End of the first, still 1-1. Bemidji leads on shots 19-9, fueled by a couple of power plays, but UMD also had a fair number of shot attempts get blocked or go wide.

2 - 2 at Bemidji now. Wouldn't hurt a Wildcat's feelings if the Beavers could pull the W:)

Never mind. 3 - 2 Bulldogs in the time it took to post:(

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

If two goals in the first 5:37 of the first period weren't enough, how about three in the first 6:06 of the second period?

Erin Cody gave Bemidji a 2-1 lead at 2:49 of the second period, but UMD came back with goals 17 seconds apart -- at 5:49 by Laura Fridfinnson and at 6:06 by Jessica Wong -- to give the the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead.

EDIT: BSU got a penalty shot on an infraction by Jaime Rasmussen at 11:13, but Erin Cody couldn't convert. Still 3-2 UMD.

EDIT #2: It looks like it will be all about the early-in-the-period scoring today. It remains 3-2 after two periods.
