Scores and Highlights 09-10

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Not sure if I heard this right but UND beat the Badgers by a final score of (I think) 3-1. UND goalie lost the shutout in the last minute.

Somebody please correct me if this is wrong.

Confirmed - UND 3, Wisconsin 1. Wisconsin's lone goal came with an extra attacker with 27 seconds to go. Sara Dagenais scored a goal and an assist for North Dakota. Jorid Dagfinrud got her third win of the season in net.

In Minneapolis, it was Minnesota 5, Ohio State 2. The Buckeyes had a 2-1 lead after the first period as Minnesota shook off the rust of holiday break and Gopher sophomore goaltender Alyssa Grogan got her first start since November 1st (as Noora Räty is playing at the MLP Nations Cup with Team Finland). But the Gophers woke up after the first intermission, scoring the final four goals of the contest.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

I have to comment on the third WCHA contest of the night, as Minnesota State and Bemidji State played to a 2-2 tie. Minnesota State came back from a 2-0 deficit after two periods, scoring twice in the first 2:46 of the third period.

But the bigger story here is that Minnesota State picked up the bonus conference standing point for a shootout victory, 2-1 in 3 rounds. It was a rare shootout loss for the Beavers and their goaltender, Zuzana Tomcikova. It was BSU's first shootout loss after winning their first three, while Minnesota State got their 3rd shootout victory after being 2-2 in the previous four.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

IN PROGRESS - Wisconsin leads North Dakota 1-0 with 6:31 remaining in the first period. Brooke Ammerman has the goal for the Badgers.

A couple of WCHA finals...

Minnesota 6, Ohio State 0 - In a very physical game, the Gophers opened this one up early, chased the OSU starting goaltender about midway through, and then solidified their lead against OSU's backup. Emily West and Brittany Francis each had a goal and two assists, Anne Schleper had 2 goals, Sarah Erickson had 4 assists, Katie Frischmann scored her first collegiate goal, and Alyssa Grogan had the 26 save shutout.

Bemidji State 3, Minnesota State 0 - The Beavers avenge yesterday's shootout loss with a 37-save shutout performance today by Zuzana Tomcikova. Erin Johnson and Annie Bauerfeld scored first period goals, and Keirstin Visser added insurance with a late second-period tally.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Badgers tack on the empty netter with less than a minute to play.

UW had a goal by Geena Prough that was pretty close waved off in the period as well.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Wild one at Matthews Arena tonight, with the Huskies ultimately winning 7-4 over BC.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Trying to say this in the nicest possible way....not exactly each goaltender's best night.

Here are the respective goalies and results of these team's previous matchups this year

10/13/09
Schelling vs. Boyles, NU wins 3-2

12/04/09
Schelling vs. Boyles, BC wins 3-2 in OT

01/11/10
Sulyma vs. Kingston, NU wins 7-4

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

That's why they play the game. It'll be different every time. :D I think both goaltenders have already more than proved their capabilities. Tonight was just one of those nights.

Minnesota takes a 1-0 lead in the 2nd after a scoreless 1st. Blankenship with the goal.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Gophers 1, Bemidji 0 after two...too close. Livestats has just 14 SOG for Minnesota after two. :(
