;)

I agree 100% with you Prof. It's about time that somebody took a stand against racial insensitivity.

And while we're on the subject, I'd like to see another wrong get corrected. Posters on this thread, as well as the general public, continually refer to the mascot of Northeastern University as a husky. This has to stop. It is a SIBERIAN Husky. Omitting the name of its ancestry is stripping it of its origin and racial pride. You don't hear anybody referring to a German Shepherd as a shepherd, or a Scottish Deerhound as a deerhound, do you? Or even an Irish Wolfhound as a wolfhound. Why is the Siberian Husky relegated to a second-class citizen? It should be called by its full and legal name. It's a known fact that the term "husky" is a derogatory term originated by the Alaskan Malamutes to describe the Siberian Husky, and that the term "husky" actually refers to a canine-quadraped that "drinks from toilets". In fact, the insulting use of this word has actually expanded to include other athletic mascots, such as the University of Nebraska Cornhuskies. When will it end?

It's good to see that the PC, and I don't mean the Friars, that is killing this country hasn't escaped the good 'ol USCHO threads.

That was beautiful! I am the proud master of 2 American Rottweilers, and one of each "domestic" shorthair and longhair, although neither cleans my house or cooks:D

That's a shame. Is there someone you can complain too?:D

I thought PC did stand for the Friars or should we be more specific and identify what order of friars?:D

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Here is an excerpt from a recent article in my hometown paper, The Anchorage Daily News, that may shed light on the topic:

Attack on Native draws hate-crime charges

ASSAULT: Pair re-arrested, may face 10 years in prison.

Police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said at the time that the couple pelted the Alaska Native man with bottles and eggs. They pushed and kicked him, all while taunting him with racial slurs, Parker said.

"I hate you Eskimos," one of the attackers said, according to the state charges. Mocking a Native accent, they pretended to ask for a cheap brand of vodka.

The full article may be found here:

Well it sounds like those two individuals have some serious problems. So in this instant the word "Eskimo" would be racially charged based on the actions for the two idiots that attacked this man.

However in the context that Bergy1 used the word "Eskimo", it was used as an adoration. As we all know words can take on different connotations based on how and when they are being used. Take for instance the "F" word. If you tell someone to "F" off or call them a "Mother F'er", that has a totally different feeling than if you were to say "Wow, that is ***** beautiful". Same word, two different connotations.

Wow today's postings had some great educational contributions.
(And to top it off no one complained about it being a diversion or cluttering issue :) )

Let's see what we learned....
....The word Eskimo can be used in both racial and non racial contexts.
....We learned that they speak a different language....Don't we all some days :D
....We learned that there is a "Inuit Circumpolar Council"
....You can see Russia from Alaska, but not from Wassila
(Can we verify that via Google Maps or Birdseye view :D )
....The Alaskan Malamutes (whomever they are ?) use the term Husky wrongly
....We have all kinds of Huskies
....You can use F-words in a beautiful way
....Jimmies are Chocolate, Sprinkles are colored. (only Hux would know this)
....The UND name is not changed yet ? (They were debating it )
....Rottweilers don't cook or clean (I think there is a cleaning option. Got attacked by one today while running  )
....Chippy has a chip on his shoulder :D
....Hux has Stinkin Bills
....The Prof has returned

Thanks to all for the education and for the entertainment.....

In the mean time some scores to report....Sorry no highlights

Bowdoin 1 at New England Coll. 1 NC OT
Conn. College 3 at Nichols 0 NC
Castleton 1 at Manhattanville 8 EE

I completely agree with your view on Bergy1's use of the word Eskimo and applaud her willingness to use a more appropriate word. As a side note, I wish I could tell you that the assault crime detailed in the article was an isolated instance, sadly it is not.

Hey Prof,

Proud to be an Italian, and so I'd like to think that me and all my fellow Wop's, Greaseballs, Dagos, and Guineas are well prepared to take such comments with a wink and a smile!

Congrats to "The Eskimo", good luck to the Fighting Sioux, and to hell with all the PC folks out there (except Providence College of course, who most recently had my support in person no less!)

Prof, get a life!

(PS, I have Luc Abratzzi on speed dial ;) )

I think you must be lost.

They are the PU Fryers here, and they will get their desevrings before getting kicked out of Hockey Rast.
