Scores and Highlights 09-10

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Friars ended up winning 2-0. I think Ruff had the 2nd goal as well.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Mercyhurst vs. St. Cloud ends in 4-4 tie. Mercyhurst wins the shootout to take the Easton Classic.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Felicia Nelson is on a nice goal-scoring roll w/ 2 more goals today.
Question for anyone who was there... The box score indicates that Nelson's second goal today was an extra-attacker goal. When I initially read it, I thought it might be a delayed penalty situation, but that would be coded differently ("DP" rather than "EA") -- plus, given that SCSU was already on a power play, a penalty would have still been called.

Did St. Cloud seriously pull Nixon for the 6th attacker during their two-player advantage that early in the third period (only 8:23 in, so 11:37 to go)? That takes some guts.

Any idea how they were planning on getting Nixon back on the ice if they hadn't scored when they did?

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

PC vs. Mankato was an excellent game. Lacasse was outstanding in goal for the Friars. Excellent team effort as well! Good weekend for the Friars with a win and a tie, in two very well played games. Just another example where the East really CAN compete with the west!

St. Cloud vs. Mercyhurst.....Huskies definitely gave the Lakers a great game. Worth noting however, is that with 5 minutes remaining in the second period, the Laker line of Bram, Scanzano and Bendus left the ice and headed for the airport to catch up with the Canadian U-22 team. Mercyhurst was ahead 4-3 at the time of their departure.

Gutsy move by St. Cloud in the thrid period as they had a 5-3 power play for 50 seconds before the Lakers would return one of two in the box, and in the early seconds of the power play they pulled their goalie creating a 6 on 3 and got the game tying goal to make it 4-4.

Hats off to the Huskies, and best of luck to the Laker U-22's who will be playing this week at the MLP cup in Germany. (I can say that in earnest, especially since there is no US entry.) ;)

You read that right....and as for the last part? I guess it's moot, eh?

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Yes, pulling your goalie with more than 11 minutes left in the game was a gutsy move! I about fell out of my seat. Not to worry--Felicia Nelson pots her 6th of the weekend!! Huskies played a strong game to battle the #1 Lakers to a tie.

The other surprise was when the Mercyhurst top line all skated across the ice to the dressing room in the second period! I thought the coach had a hissy fit because they didn't score on a power play. Later found out they had to catch a flight to Germany.

Ashley Nixon was strong in net, and the line of Caitlin Hogan, Holly Roberts and red-hot Nelson pushed the play for the Huskies.

Coupled with the tie with a good Providence team on Saturday, it was a good weekend for SCSU. So, with a hot hand, guess what? You got it--a bye next weekend.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Miss Nelson now leads the nation in goals (18) and power play goals (9).

....anyone ready for a Kaz thread yet?

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Northeastern up 3-0 on Princeton after 1. Goals by Wohlfeiler, Fields and Espo. Shots 11-7 Princeton so far.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Northeastern 4-0 over Princeton. Kehoe with the fourth goal and a 52-save shutout for the Eskimo. :D

Way to go Sully!! Every bit as good as the kid from across the pond.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Hux I totally agree and have maintained that stance since the whole "goalie controversy" began ;) Even more impressive is the fact she hadn't had game-time since October.

Bergey,

Eskimo is actually a racial slur that was used by northern Native Americans to describe the people of the Far North. Not knowing any better it was adopted by European explorers. Would you use any other racial slurs on this board? Probably not, so why this one? Inuit is the correct term for the group of peoples found along the top of the world.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Well we have already had this discussion. Those who post about the NU team do endearingly refer to Sulyma as "The Eskimo", and not racially so. But perhaps we'll be more careful from now on as it offends so many people on this board.

So as long as its endearing its OK? Endearing or not it is a racially loaded word.

Here's an idea....give us your background and instead of Bergey we'll all use a racially loaded word for you and it will be OK because it is used endearingly. How would that work for you?

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Prof,

I think you need to relax. What I meant by "endearing" was that I had no ill intentions. Yes I understand that that doesn't make it right, and as I summed up in my last post I will refrain from now on. I'm not here to offend anyone.
