And powerplays have been the only moments where Gophers has been able to find scoring sector and shoot. Just like yesterday. Saves 9 to Gophers and 5 to Sioux.

In the other WCHA game this afternoon, UMD leads Bemidji State 1-0 after one period on a goal by Gina Dodge at 17:34.

Minnesota 5, UND 0, 11:49 to go in the third as Chelsey Jones gets the first even-strength goal for either team this weekend. Alyssa Grogan in net for the Gophers for the third period to give her a little game action (in relief of Räty).

In Duluth, Bemidji has tied the game 1-1 on a power play goal by Erin Cody at 1:22 of the second period.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

FINAL: Minnesota 5, North Dakota 0

Mid-Second Period - Bemidji State 2, UMD 1 - UMD's Tara Gray has been called for two interference penalties and Bemidji State has converted on both power plays. Erin Johnson scored the second Beaver goal at 8:28 of the second period.

Update -- UMD tied up their game with Bemidji 2-2 on a power play goal by Mariia Posa with 7:13 left in the third period.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

UMD and Bemidji State going to OT. UMD will have 25 seconds of power play carrying over from the 3rd period after a late roughing penalty by Bemidji.

Edit/Update: No scoring in the OT -- going to the shootout. Bemidji's Zuzana Tomcikova saved 46 of 48 UMD shots during game action.

Though officially a tie, it's still the first time BSU has taken 2 points out of the DECC. Tara Gray penalties cost UMD this game.. two interference penalties in the second period led to power play goals for BSU. Not to say UMD's lack of crisp passing wasn't also part of the downfall also.

Have to agree Hanover is friggin ridiculous in winter...as are the Prairies...

R You sure you are Canadian.?
Did GTA folks lose touch with winter ?.
Is Hanover not further south than the GTA ?.

Ah, one of the perks of living close to the lake means a lot less snow and generally warmer temps than even those in the GTA closer to the 401 or the northern suburbs because of the moderating influence of the "lake effect"....most of the snow typically drops further north and west in the "snow belt" (London thru Kitchener), or on Syracuse/Rochester/Buffalo on the other side of the lake instead :D . I heard Huntsville (only about 2 hours north) has 40" of snow whereas ours mostly melted right away after it fell and/or partially fell as rain. Although the last 2 winters were bad here, there have been quite a few winters where we had to shovel only once or twice, and rarely needed to wear snow boots.

Hanover is I believe actually both further north than Toronto and also much, much higher elevation.

You are right, but it is very close...Downtown Toronto technically further south than Dartmouth in Hanover, however north of the 401 (Markham) is more north than Hanover.

CN-Tower....43.38' N
Dartmouth....43.42' N
Markham.......43.49' N

Sounds like you folks are more like Vancouverites. Where we are it looks like christmas for sure.

Yeah, I've noticed the weather is weird in the GTA.

I once drove across Massachusetts and New York after a pretty good snow storm, only to reach the QEW & 407 to find not a lick of snow on the ground. It stayed that way on the 400 until Cookstown, and then wham, everything was plastered. I got to Barrie and had to spend nearly an hour digging out a spot for my truck in my friend's driveway.

It is amazing the difference in weather in even relatively small changes of location.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Hux,

That's the joys of lake effect snow. Buffalo and Watertown get the same kind of snow as Barrie gets. Toronto is on the right side of the lake till late winter/early spring and then they get the lake effect snow because the wind has changed to coming from the south!

Trillum forgets the good olde days of Mel Lastman and getting the army in to dig the city out. We in the 'north' had a few good laughs over that.

Will the Brown threads die? I hope so but you have to think that where there's smoke there is usually fire, is there not?

The Prof.
